Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
The key stat though is that Richardson had only 52 catchable balls thrown at him. You have to ask why - Doug Baldwin was their best WR so of course he draws the most but that Seattle offensive line was dismal. Wilson was running for his life on so, so many plays. And when speed is your #1 asset like it is for Richardson, it's just not very often that Wilson can find you.
Richardson's QB this year will be protected by stud Ts guarding the edges plus Scherff up the middle. I'm confident in Roullier too. Even if Richardson continues to drop balls at the same % rate, he'll have more targets just by virtue of the fact that Smith will be protected well enough. I don't know about 1000 yards but I definitely see him coming through with better numbers than he had in Seattle. His real value is the deep threat combined with the strong protection - defenses will be forced to play him deep leaving 7 man fronts for Guice. We finally have a runner than can make a defense pay for consistent 7 man fronts. If Guice is 4.5 yards per carry like I think he'll be, then Paul Richardson is one of the first guys he'll have to thank for it.

Like I said, watching All 22 version of Hawks game, it feels like PR would've gotten more than a 1000 yards had Wilson been better protected! He was open so many times but Russell just couldn't throw his way... finding a check down was already a miracle. I think Richardson will have a really good season for us. He had 703 yards with virtually no OL...

A supplemental draft safety the Redskins have shown interest in. The draft is July 11th.

Great points, we do have damn good Tackles. (well 1 is the goat) Wilson faced more pressure last season than any QB, I just don't know if PRich is anything more than a 1 trick pony. He hasn't really had a chance to show that yet so we will see. I think Josh will have the biggest impact at WR in the RZ for sure and for possession balls. Guice and CT will get a big workload too so I just don't see PR getting more than 4 catches a game Speaking of WR's Is Dez to Redskins a good move? - ESPN Video

Ok, lets think...we could use the talent at CB and we are setting up for a large amount of compensory picks... Why not go out and get a Corner now that would be drafted this coming year? If we like someone, put a grade on him and get him. Brandon Bryant, Sam Beal to apply for NFL supplemental draft - NFL.com Adonis Alexander to apply for 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft - NFL.com Alexander is a pretty decent player as well. His size is great. 6-3 207...he is a little slow, so Safety could be in his future |

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Does anyone know how the supplemental draft works? Do they go round by round like the regular draft, or do teams put in an offer (a draft choice pick) and the best offers get the rights to the players?

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Without googling it, I am pretty sure it's a bidding process. Teams submit the name and the draft choice they want to spend and then the player is awarded to the team that submitted the highest pick.
Generally, it's a pretty short list of available players.

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Having new QB no excuse for Redskins in Jay Gruden's fifth season - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN
The Redskins have shown interest, having attended each of their pro days. They sent multiple people to Alexander’s workout, which of course was the closest one. Based on what I’ve read, and what I’ve been told, it seems as if Beal is the best of the bunch and would get drafted the highest. Not everyone thinks that; I do know some who view Alexander as that guy. But my guess is that the Redskins view Beal as the top available player. Some think Alexander will warrant a mid-round pick; I’ve talked to others who project he and Bryant as seventh-rounders in this draft. Alexander ran a 4.6 at his pro day, which will scare some teams unless they view him as a safety. The Redskins are doing due diligence on these players, but it clearly goes beyond just basic homework. It’s always good to add young corners, especially when two of your top three -- Josh Norman and Orlando Scandrick -- are 30 and 31, respectively. They also have several other young corners with question marks. And they need more depth at safety, if they felt one of these players fit better at that position. I don’t know if they will pick one of them, but yes, there is interest. Expect for us to submit bids for at least one of these guys. |
