I believe fans need to stop making a big deal about having Trent sitting out for the season again. This is not Ron Rivera's mess, this is now Trent's mess because he started to act like a diva towards the new regime. Pittsburgh was fine with having LeVeon Bell sit out for a season, and I think we'll be too if people don't make such a big deal about it.

I suppose they could slap the transition tag on him next year if they have too.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Ian rapport said we had a trade with the Vikings done, but Trent made it be known he didn’t want to go to the Vikings.
Let that sink in. Trent wants out of Washington. He could have been reunited with Kirk cousins and been on a super bowl contending team, but he kiboshed the deal. I’m guessing the Vikings weren’t offering him the contract he wanted. With each passing day, Trent Williams is proving to be a piece of shit.

At this point, I say stop looking for a trade partner. He either comes back to play out his contract, or he sits another year. Fuck him.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Part of him would like to see it solved one way or antother (trade, unlikely, him playing a final year in DC, possible)... and part of me wants to see think freakin diva sit out another year, lose money, and either have to retire or accept a shitty contract that a team would be stupid enough to give a 33 years old tackle that hasn't played for 2 years...

Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins

I’m really starting to agree with this idea. If Trent had asked for a reasonable salary, he would’ve been traded in a deal beneficial to both the team and him. Instead he got greedy and asked for an astronomical salary. This scared off almost all or all the teams. Most of the teams interested in him simply drafted two or MORE OT instead of trading for Williams. Their math is similar to them all and the reason Trent will get a low draft pick or NOTHING. You draft several draft pick OT in the 2nd, 3rd and lower rounds. First, they are cheap $500,000 to $1 mill. Some will be busts (over half) but one or two will make it. Meanwhile, Trent would cost $20 mill per year , and most likely would get hurt AGAIN. Most teams would take the more risky course with drafting cheap OT, versus trading for an Uber-expensive Trent, who hasn’t played in a year, and also has been hurt. Bottom line, Trent priced himself out of the market. If he can’t be traded then he either takes his salary or he sits another year. If he’d been less greedy he would have more money, a new team and the Redskins would have good draft pick. Let him sit if he won’t play!!!

Waking up to hear we had a deal but Trent backed out?
It’s obvious now, he is trying to force a release.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
RR isn't going to release him. If TW doesn't take the next trade offer, doesn't accept a new deal here (most unlikely) and then holds out, I wouldn't be surprised if RR takes the same line as Allen in the end and say "you want to f* with my situation, I'll f* with yours" then transition tag him (assuming there's no better benefit to applying it to another player at that time; if so cut him and have done). He could be looking at being 34 having held out for effectively 3 years by then and likely have to retire having missed out on c. $30M. And quite possibly miss out on any HoF chance.
Surely he has to see that the best case scenario is taking the next offer from whoever that is and moving on? Worst case is he destroys his legacy. |
