Report: Antoine Cason, Arizona Cardinals strike deal - NFL.com
cason is $2m 1year. wish we had gotten him for that. maybe talib is close and not going to NE. i think the next best after that is winfield on a 1-2year deal. |

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
cause we need someone to start for us this year... you just said it yourself. winfield is old, so he'd be in the price range if talib doesn't work out. we still need a safety and a #3 db anyways.

We are screwed at CB next year, especially if Hall doesn't come back. Doesn't matter if u hate the guy or like him if we don't replace him we will be even worse.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Winfield might be an immediate solution, but what about two or three years from now? I suppose we'll just sign another old guy, then a few years later we'll sign another old guy. It would be much better to draft a guy who could start for us in a year or two than to sign an immediate solution. Anyway, Wilson could start.

I am a bit confused because you make it sound like we have to either sign a vet OR draft a young CB, but signing either Winfield or Talib isn't going to prevent us from drafting one or two CBs. If anything it simply means we won't have to throw a raw rookie out as a starter game one. We certainly will end up with 3 new CBs on our roster and camp and preseason will determine the starting day lineup.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Drafting a corner this year is pretty much inevitable, so I just don't like the thought of wasting money on a veteran CB when we could be using that money elsewhere, on young guys.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
It would be shocking if they didn't draft 2 CB and a FS this April. We still need another vet or two as well in the back field.
They will figure it out. I got faith.

I don't understand your point, can you give an example of who that money could go to? what young guys would take old CB money to play for us?

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
um, first we will be drafting guys, it'd be stupid not to.
second, next year we'll have money, so if we feel the need to pay a FA it could be a good young CB. we have no money, so if we can't afford a young quality cb, and the draft isn't a sure bet to get one, guess what? you sign the old guy that can play for ONE year until you know the drafted guys can play or you have the money to pay someone that'll stick around for a while. |

I want them to draft a older CB and sign a young FA CB. Lol.
We have no damn money to spend so we are shopping at the dollar store this year and I love it. Build this team with the young guys we have, sign some affordable vets to fill some holes and then try to find some gems in this draft for the future.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Wow teams like Miami and Philly are spending like crazy while we are hamstrung with the cap penalty. This year we have no 1st rd pck no cap space and our defense was poor for much of the season. RGIII coming off a serious injury and we may lose Fred Davis, wow not sure how how we improve next season. Thanks NFL for sticking it to us when we became reveliant again on a National level. I live in Vega now and I see numerous RGIII jerseys and Redskins fans here. Im not sure if they are bandwagon fans or diehard fans like many of us who have been through the good and more recent bad years. I hope this crap backfires on the league and we get to the NFC title game. HTTR

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I am confident that we can find a starting CB and a FS in this draft. I also have got to believe that SS is a target as well. We do have Doughty and Merriweather but if the opportunity presents itself at the draft to grab a good one of those I wouldn't be opposed to it.
Add that to a possible return of Dhall or an equivalent and we will be ok. If we improve the safety play then the corners of even last year would have been better. We also have to look at the final 5 games. The defense was much improved and yes even the back end. Haslett really did a great job in getting the most out of our guys. We ended up getting man handled on both offense and defense during the Seattle game, so I would imagine we be looking to move to bigger guys on the back end of the D. Pashos will be the T that ends up making the team, and I almost think he is going to be the opening day starter.
