Me too, but I have faith in our front office. The only thing I'm worried about is that they continue to trade back to the point where they're just looking for more bodies on day 1. Draft the BPA that fits your scheme.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
To be honest, didn't really know too much about Kerrigan and would have preferred a WR or OL pick (so I gave it a B). But if he pans out (Todd Mcshay says there is no way he will bust) then a great pick for the next 4-5 years.

Good call, it's just too bad Ponder went 29 picks too early. Hahah

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I was looking back on what I said about certain players in January. Crazy how things work out.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I voted A. When I see video of Kerrigan coming around the edge I see someone with a very quick first step, he can really get off the line. Orakpo popped out on film in that manner, and look what he's done for us. I don't think Kerrigan is quite as quick as Orakpo, but still very quick, enough to beat RTs for 8 sacks in a season.
He's also stout enough to hold down the edge in the run game, 267 pounds is no cupcake. He also takes good angles to the ballcarrier, you never see him go at the upfield side of the ballcarrier, always seems to put himself in front of the player to knock him backwards. That's a guy who just understands defense and is less concerned with the flashy hit. Good motor, good kid. I don't see any way we'll be disappointed. We need multiple bodies who are reliable, I'm glad we shied away from high-risk high-reward types. Kerrigan is the exact opposite of that.

I was intially under the assumption Kerrigan would play DE for us, obviously after I looked at his size, there is no way he would. So again we are moving a DE to a OLB...with Orakpo I was much more comfortable because A) he was a better player B) he was a better athelete C) Sam position goes after the QB 95% time anyway, so it plays to Orakpo's strength. Kerrigan adjustment might not be as easy, especially against the run. Im dont see a superstar, but I expect a solid player and end the end thats all you can hope for.

The one thing I do like about the pick a bit more is in nickel/dime our front four can get after the passer. With the pick of Kerrigan, as others have said, I think it is critical to come away from the second round with Paea.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I think its about the attitude. Like Anthony Armstrong at WR, they have a guy on defense who will plays every down like it was his last. AlsoHumble and not flashy. This sends the message that character means something again in Washington DC

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Under "Winners" on ESPN:
2. Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars finally get a break. For years, they were looking for the heir to David Garrard's starting job at quarterback. Thanks in part to 49ers not taking a quarterback and the Titans taking Jake Locker with the eighth pick, the Jaguars accomplished something that they might not have done until the 2012 draft -- they got their quarterback, Blaine Gabbert. Once Gabbert fell to the 10th pick, the Jaguars traded up with the Redskins to get him. The cost was a second-round pick. Had they tried to move up from the second round to get a quarterback, they might have had to sacrifice a first-rounder in 2012. Drafting at 16 originally, the Jags weren't in a good spot to get one of the top-rated quarterbacks. Getting Gabbart was like hitting the lottery, particularly in a division that has elite quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Matt Schaub. I swear if Gabbert becomes a super star, I will be so pissed. Even if Kerrigan is a Pro Bowler it will not trump a franchise QB. I just feel like this will come back to bite us.
