Probably the worst structure you can have for a company. 70% of family businesses fail before the 2nd generation even gets a chance to take over.

The guy has played just in 6 games and you're ready to give up on him? He has a 121 QB rating in his sixth game and you think he's terrible? It is very RARE for a top QB to have a good or even a very good rookie season. Look at HOF QB like Peyton Manning - 26 INT his rookie year. Steve Young had 3 TD and 8 INT his first season. It goes on and on.

You've got to give a high draft pick players 2-3 years to see if they can become a franchise player. NOT like Doctson, who the Redskins kept around for over 4 seasons - he was just a poor WR. Only an awful GM like BA would keep a loser like Doctson around while letting 1000 yd WR like Garcon, Jackson and Crowder walk out the door.

I don't know if Haskins is the one. Time will tell, but the team needs to provide him with play time, reps, an improved OL, good coaching, far better play-calling, and a decent TE. Only AFTER the team helps him out with the improvements listed above and he's had 20-30 games, can the coaches make an evaluation of whther he is the future QB for this team. It's too soon now, even with his current faults.

No you don't.

The best team in the league cuts and trades their drafted players all the time and they start UDFA all the time. Even there, there are politics involved, see the Jimmy G trade, but it's the closest thing there is in the league to a pure meritocracy, at least from the outside looking in.

What if the "high draft pick" should have been a "low draft pick"? Still 2-3 years?

Jay, KOC, Cavanaugh, all worked with Kirk, Alex, Colt, Case, and now Dwyane. You don't think there is a good feel for his ceiling outside DS and BA's office?

Yikes, sounds like Big Baller Brand. Is Dwayne Haskins Lavar Ball's love child?

I Completely Agree with you!
In just the small amount of the game I actually saw yesterday, Haskins looked like a pro quarterback!

Re: The Haskins Threat

He was throwing guys open yesterday, ball out before WR breaks. Callahan said he never makes the same mistake twice. His growth (in a small sample size) has been impressive.

Re: The Haskins Thread

For all the guys who:

1. Wanted for Haskins to sit out the entire first season (or more!)

2. Were ready to trade Haskins or draft a QB with our FIRST ROUND PICK after just 4 games

What do you say now? In game five Haskins had a 121 QB rating. Game six he had a 141 QB rating. That’s with just six games of experience!

Also, if you look at the history of past Redskin first round draft picks: Shuler, Campbell and RG3, all were given between 20-52 games. Shuler (29), Campbell (52), RG3 (37). So for the posters who said we could get rid of a first rounder QB after one season or less, this does not match with Redskins history. Sure, the team could give up earlier, but you must be sure this QB isn’t going to turn it around in the second or even the third season. How long did the Redskins test Kirk Cousins before they let him go? The problem is you see brief periods of exceptional play, but not consistently able to replicate that level of play.

Re: The Haskins Threat

I haven't seen anything yet. Next year will be year 1 for Haskins as far as I'm concerned.

Shular was Norv's guy.
Campbell was Gibbs 2.0 guy.
RG3 was Shanahan's guy.

Colt Gruden was Jays oldest son. Colt was a scrappy kid with brittle bones but he was daddies favorite.
Case Gruden was Jays middle child. The best QB of the bunch but daddy still loved Colt a little more.
Dwayne Gruden was a surprise from Mrs. Gruden 9 months after her all girls vacation to Jamaica. Jay never took a liking to young Dwayne for some reason...

all joking aside, this was a wasted season in every way imaginable.
This team needs to figure out what they are on offense before we should start grading Dwayne.

Re: The Haskins Threat

Haskins ruled out for week 17, his rookie year is over. Fresh thread time.
