Re: Week 10- Around the NFL

I'm not going to knock them on strength of schedule. Ultimately we all can only play who is on our schedule. We had every opportunity to be tied going into Thanksgiving, and we didn't get it done. I will be rooting for Baltimore but the Cowboys look like a top tier team unfortunately.

They update this every week I believe, taking several things into account. The Cowboys schedule so far is 32nd out of 32. They have a few tougher games coming up, playing Baltimore, Detroit, Minnesota, and the NFC East teams again so we'll see. But so far yes their schedule has been a joke
Thanks that is the stat I was looking for.

I am not saying they are not a really good team nor am I knocking anyone for playing and beating who is on their schedule but to listen to national media, Zeke is the second coming of and Dak is the best QB in football and I think it is a lot more grey than that. they played a weak schedule and have a great line. I am not as impressed by the rookies as everyone else.

Re: Week 10- Around the NFL

I wanna believe eventually they will come back to Earth, but there's a tiny part of me that is scared they are set for the next decade. Of course they would basically luck into being a dominant team for the foreseeable future.

One could potentially say we have a lot more firepower on offense, yet they're going apeshit.

Blah. (
Well, no. I mean Tyron Smith is right up their with Trent at LT.
On top of that, they have two other first rounders in Martin (RG) and Frederick (C) and then there is La'el Collins would have been a 1st round pick but for his legal issues. All three of those guys have been really damn good. So they could have a couple of All-Pros and two more Pro-Bowl guys.

Free is the RT and he is solid and a former starting LT.

Our line could get close. Scherff and Williams have All-Pro written all over them. I think Long and Moses will also be really damn good.

Both lines are young so they could be setting the tone for quite some time.

I think our line is as good as the cowboys, only difference they have slightly more experience (not much).

Re: Week 10- Around the NFL

Factoids:

Williams, Scherff - 1st Rounders
Luavo, Long, Moses - 3rd Rounders

Williams and Lauvao 2010 draft.
Long and Moses both 2014 draft.
Scherff 2015 draft.

This particular line could be together for another three or four years. Lots of growth potential from Scherff, Long and Moses.

Re: Week 10- Around the NFL

Lets not forget Kouandjio a 4th round and Lauvao's replacement next year. To be honest I don't care about draft order, Jacoby was a FA, Bostic was also undrafted, Ed simmons 6th round, Ray Brown 8th round, Mark Schlereth 10th round, Raleigh McKenzie 11th round. Coaching makes a big difference.

Feels like we are selling Tyron Smith short, every time I see his name mentioned when media talks about their o-line they slob on his knob like he's the next Walter Jones/Orlando Pace. Which he might be, I mean I only watch two Cowboys games a year so who knows? But the way the media talks about him and their line it's like they can do no wrong.

Right. I mean they have three Pro Bowl/All Pro guys currently playing (Collins has been out a while I believe). We have two. For me, I'm like how does that one extra make such a huge difference?

I dunno.

Was seeing some stats that a ton of Zeke's yards are mostly before contact. Pure insanity.

Re: Week 10- Around the NFL

Dallas' line has been playing together longer. Give us another offseason of Callahans coaching and maybe an upgrade at LG and we will be as good or better. They dont have anyone like Scherff, who just destroys guys every game. And I would take Williams over Tyron Smith

Their center is far better than Long or Kory, and the center ties the line together. I was sure we were going to draft a top tier center last draft and I still believe we ought to this year, even in the 1st or 2nd round, if it's a guy Callahan/SM both agree on.

edit: Callahan signed a 3 year deal in Jan 15, so next year is his last under contract. All the more reason to get the last parts to the line and get a year under his coaching if he does decide to leave in 18.

OR...extend Callahan's contract. That's a no-brainer, IMO.
