Re: Redskins 2011 Salary Cap Status
I have a question . In this year does the June the 1st designation still exist - i.e. the previous tool to push forward a portion of the cap hit to the following years for veterans cut after June the 1st .
I have seen a couple of people saying it doesn't apply this season and others (e.g AdamTJ13) insisting it did . What impact would this have on our cap situation and teams with a cap issue like the Cowboys ... |

Re: Redskins 2011 Salary Cap Status
Uh Oh, here we go again. DOOMSDAY. are we in cap hell? It seems like every year people like to say we are and then all the finageling starts.
JK. I think we should be in pretty good shape to sign key items to help out the team. It's the teams like Dallas who will have to do some major contract work in order to keep players and bring in new ones. |

So, with all the trades, rookie and vet signings.... Where do the Redskins stand in cap room? Does anyone have a "roundabout" idea?

From there, information is sketchy on the impact of trading McNabb, impact of releasing Rabach, and the impact of the new deals signed over the last few days because we don't have the contract details yet. I think space remains to keep working but I don't know how much. I wouldn't be putting out a number right now.

Yeah suffice it to say we have enough to keep making moves. How much, nobody knows. Things are happening too fast right now.

Re: Redskins 2011 Salary Cap Status
cofield is 12.5/36 over 6? moss 6/15 over 3? i assume donte is cheap, gaffney is cheap (have to check on his current contract w/o SB) and wislon was what? 8/13.5 over 3?
not a lot of big signings yet... still need jenkins and an OL if nothing else, but we got room for that and some midlevels/vet min cut guys. |

This morning I heard $21 million under, but I don't even pretend to understand the cap

Re: Redskins 2011 Salary Cap Status
AH and DM saved us some nice room, but with all the moves coming and going good luck figuring out where we're at right now. I'm guessing we still have a lot of spendin' to do.

Re: Redskins 2011 Salary Cap Status
Cap Update:
Our total 2011 cash outlay is at $106 million, which includes all the cuts and signings to date, and a rookie salary estimate, but not a Cullen Jenkins deal. I have us sitting on $21.8 million in cap space at the current moment. Our signings to date have pretty much been cancelled out by our cuts and trades.

Re: Redskins 2011 Salary Cap Status
In other words, if Cullen Jenkins' deal is a blockbuster, it won't matter much on our 2011 cap.
2012 though is starting to get a little tighter.

Re: Redskins 2011 Salary Cap Status
Stephen Bowen update: estimated cap number = $4 million
There is roughly $17 million remaining under the salary cap for 2011. We have matched the cash requirement for the 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFLPA. It's $37 million in deadcap for the following cuts: Kemoeatu Portis Moss (voided deal prior to resigning) Carter Haynesworth McNabb Dockery Rabach Moss is actually counting $8.5 million on our cap, which is $5.5 million for the remenants of his old deal, and $3 million for his current deal. But all that means is our salary cap is $87 million instead of $123.7 million. And the only big contract we have on the books is Fletcher at $7 million. So that's why we have so much deadcap and can still be signing.
