And as it's been stated here as well as other threads, there weren't a ton of quality free agents out there, unless you're giving up a top tier pick. Take the Bears for instance, they're not rebuilding they're trying to save face and a few asses.

Two people, among a few others, that I feel will be key to how far we go this year will Jason Campbell, for obvious reasons, and Levi Jones. He's the big wild card I'm counting on. If this guy can kill it in training camp and just become NFL starting material, I think we're on our way. Chad Rinehart, eh? I don't know, he should improve but I'm counting on Levi to step up more than Chad, although I'd be happy with either doing a good job.
Fill me in on the status of Levi Jones. He's still listed on the roster, but is he currently under contract or is he an URFA?

All I know is he signed a FA contract last year. I'm not sure if the Skins have decided to keep him or what, to be honest. I'd like to see him back in camp and competing for a starting spot at tackle.

I am just so shocked to hear that Redskins fans are complaining of how the team is dealing with free agency. Over the past 5 years the team has been trigger happy and the team has become the offseason champs. Finally, management is actually viewing our current roster and making great money decisions. Everyone Jumps. Relax, we have great minds in office and dont be surprised when 3 big moves happen within the next 4 weeks.

[QUOTE=freddyg12;671422]I would also add that it's not just about the cap. We may think Snyder has bottomless pockets but it's not secret that some of his ventures (6 flags e.g.) have not been doing well. I'm sure revenue at the stadium was down this year.

this is what im wondering too. the DS paid a boat of money last year just to go 4-12. now, with no floor and no expectation of winning, he can go 4-12 for half the price.

if we are not going to be a contender for the SB this year, why spend millions on band-aid players like clifton, pashos, etc.

us signing or not signing chad clifton will have very little impact on whether we are contending for a SB 2 years from now. imo.

while i would have liked dansby here, he got paid more than i would have given up for a 100 tackle no turnover ILB.

so far, the FO gets a thumbs up from me.

What, are we 5 days into FA now?

We've taken out the trash (no disrespect to the individual players) and already added a versatile OFFENSIVE LINEMAN.

We're doing fine. Plenty of time to make moves. The FA pool will continue to grow, not shrink.

As long as we have the line covered in the draft, I'm happy with the job they've done.

That's what I'm wondering too, what is the deal w/Levi? Is he under contract? If not, it seems we would've heard something.

I know he said he wanted to play LT last year & waited for a team to sign him to do so, but he might want to consider playing RT at this point in his career. He seems like the athletic kind of linemen that would do well in Shanny's scheme.

Anyone have info?

My big prediction is that Redskins acquire brandon marshall, by trading the 4 spot for a later 1st round draft pick. LT will join portis in the backfield allowing us to draft a 4th round running back. Believe me this is not a fantasy trade.

Re: Is the new Redskins Front Office Gun Shy?

Lots of factors to consider here, most of which have already been addressed (but I have a monthly post quota to fill so here goes)

-Weak class with many guys who would be UFAs now RFAs this year

-In the event a cap returns next season, we're in better shape than many other teams. Something Allen has said, that they are preparing for that possibility

-We've made more moves than any other team really. It's just been addition by subtraction really

-It's still early. When you think about it, at this point in free agency did we make any major move tin 2008? Did we make any move other than signing Haynesworth in 2009? (I can't recall what we did in 2007). Think about it, we were interested in Dansby but decided not to make a major bid for him. Had we signed him, we'd basically have done what we did last year at the start of free agency. Sign one major defensive player

Why on earth would Shanny trade for Brandon Marshall, a player that he previously wanted to ditch?

You're right, it's just an insane trade.

Neither will happen. LT has a better chance here than Marshall, but I don't think he'd accept a backup role on a noncontender.

Wow, no wonder you are low on your quota, you could easily have gotten 4 posts out of this one, and if you tried even a little you could have gotten 6!

The Skins are in need to for a top wide receiver to compliment santana moss and Devin Thomas. As far as LT, From sources he is not looking for a starting role, he is looking for a potential playoff run team. I am no way saying we will make the playoffs but a contender.

It looks like they have a plan, which entails a budget that Allen has set w/the Danny's blessing. As the Peter King article mentions, Allen didn't want to spend too much or get impulsive in free agency. I like it so far, sign players that are w/in your budget parameters rather than trying to outbid for 1 or 2 guys then having to restructure every year, etc.

If Vinny were still here I don't know if Peppers would be a skin, but I bet Clifton & Pashos would be. We would've overpaid for both to try & get the quick fix of the o line.
6 flags and everything else are separate entities. The Redskins are #1 in revenue and operating income. There is no way that Snyder would allow other businesses that may be struggling affect the Redskins.

The Redskins currently have the 4th lowest payroll. Does anyone want to bet me a beer (or two)that we aren't in the top 5-10 in the league by the time the season starts?
