Re: A Very Troubling Statistic
we had one big blowout 2 years ago against the giants where they beat the crap out of us. We made the playoffs beat tampa then lost to seattle.we have to beat the giants on the road in the playoffs to get to the superbowl. Is this team good enough? Not right now. but if we can start rolling come playoff time we have a chance

Re: A Very Troubling Statistic
I'm not buying the WCO stuff. That's just an excuse. Philly has worse WR's than we do yet they always push the ball downfield. Hell, just do it just for the sake of a PI call. Pittsburgh was missing two starters on their line, their QB was getting pushed around, yet they did it and got a PI call which changed field position, plus got a long completion on Smoot. Devin Thomas runs 4.3 and is 6'2. I think he can handle running a go route. Sorry but not throwing downfield at all is just poor coaching.

Re: A Very Troubling Statistic
devin thomas will contribute at some point. The problem is he is contributing to the opposing defence. all the talent in the world wont help if you cant read and understand the playbook!!

Re: A Very Troubling Statistic
I dont know that we need to overhall the offense. we are 10th in the NFL, yardage wise. We seem to stall once we get in the redzone. Fred Davis, Cooley have not been utilized in the redzone as much as i think they should. some roll outs may help. But we also have committed some penalties in that area that need to be addressed. I hope M. Kelly is active the second half of the season. With his size and ability to go up and get the ball will be VERY helpful. I would like to see Sellers used a little more as well. I think this is just a growing thing that will get better with time.

Re: A Very Troubling Statistic
about taking shots with the long ball - zorn has been asked about that a few times after the games leading up to the steelers game and he said they did call plays to take shots down field then he goes on specifically identify plays they did call it and gave a reason for why it didnt get thrown (pass protection) or wasnt completed (out of bounds).
also zorn said he probaly gave up on the run to early in the steelers game, i believe the run sets up the big pass plays and with no real run threat what you can do is limited. like most of you all, i like being 6-3 but as we have proven before a 4-6 or 4-5 team can have a great late season push for the playoffs so we must think that us, eagles and cowboys are all 0-0 with a 7 game season ahead of us. i look forward to some hard fought meaningfull football in the second half. go skins!!!! |

We failed in the basic phases of the game well before the lack of a deep passing game became a problem.

Remember that even in our injured state, our defense is significantly more talented than their offense.
