Re: Bernard Berrian

I agree about giving Anthony Mix a shot. He's a big kid and was a monster on special teams. Also like the idea of drafting a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Re: Bernard Berrian

I hope the Bengals hold on to Johnson we don't need his baggage....but keep an eye on Willliams and Fitzgerald. DS wants a big time receiver and Williams fits the bill and the Cardinals may bite at DS willingness to trade draft picks.

I CANT MAKE THREADS so someone make it for me...Did anyone see on espn.com realigning the stars article...one of the stars mentioned is Antwann Randle El and possibly cutting/trading him to free up cap space and possibly with intention of doing so to bring in Chad Johnson.

I honeslty feel Randle El is overpaid. He was supposed to boost the return game but didnt do so, and he only has a hand full of touchdown catches in his tenure in washington. ANY THOUGHTS?

Re: Bernard Berrian

I think BLloyd needs to start thinking about the CFL. Face the music people he was a dud in San Fran. All the bloggers told us so. The admitted that he caught a few good passes but not for what they thought they were getting. We kept saying oh we will make something of him. lol. Between injuries and not playing better then the younger WR we had he seemed to not make it or cut it. Time to cut our ties that bind us.

Don't say it was AL's system cause he couldn't make it in San Fran in the WC offense either.

Hopefully we will have Moss, Mix, Espy, Randel El, Cooley and if I'm correct Portis who will be if not running the ball catching it out of the back field.
Any additions should be a #1 type of possession WR.

I like Randel El but quickly got tired of his east/west running instead of his north south. He was pretty reliable in the short yardage downs and out routes.

Already addressed in another thread. Cutting him would result in a $7M cap hit so that's really not feasible.

Keep in mind that this guy had the Grossman/Griese/Orton trio of mediocre QBs throwing at him, and he still performed better than S.Moss (61 Rec/808 Yds/3 TDs) or even Randle El (51 Rec/728 Yds/1 TD).

Berrian would give the Skins the tall possession receiver they've been craving and they wouldn't have to give up any picks. I think that a WR tandem of Berrian, Moss, and Randle El, along with Chris Cooley, would give the Redskins a solid passing game. Plus we wouldn't deal with the baggage that Ocho Cinco brings, nor worrying about shelling out tons of $$$. I hope that now Gibbs is gone, DS doesn't go back to his old ways of giving up picks at the drop of a dime.

At 6'1" and 185lbs, that does not qualify one to be a possesion receiver. He will get bullied at the line. Remember Mushin Muhamed(sp) was the #1 and he was the #2.

So if we get him we may see him turn into what Peerless Price was after he left Buffalo behind Eric Moulds. Once he landed in ATL as a #1 he couldn't get open, get past the double teams that #1 receivers face, and he couldn't live up to his heft contract.

I say, no way Jose.

He would be on the field more consistantly instead of his one play every 10-15. Thrash should be back, Caldwell maybe. I just think we have some more pressing needs with the health of Carlos and Rocky up in the air. Defense is what wins championships, Giants most recently proven this. I think Moss and Randel El are a pretty decent tandem, and who knows what this Mix kid would bring. Big, Stong, and reasonably fast gives that big target the staff apparently desires. Plus you have cooley that lines up in the slot more in a west coast style. another thing to consider is Portis will be more in the field receiving more than he has been.

No doubt I think chad is great receiver, but overall i just dont see the need in giving him 50-60+million.
I agree with you 100%. It would be nice to get a big possession receiver but not if it means giving away draft picks and/or making the salary cap situation worse. Offensive line and defensive line, linebacker depth and secondary depth are bigger problems.

Re: Bernard Berrian

This months Warpath Buzz words are brought to you by Dan Snyder: The Redskins owner for the rest of your natural born life and then some (he has enough money to keep himself alive for at least a 1,000 years).

The buzz words are veteran minimum and Anthony Mix.

veteran minimum - A set amount of salary and a buzz word that makes Warpath members feel like smart GM's. The amount currently is valued at a little over $700k while counting only around $400k against the cap. Usually used to sign over the hill players that are looking to win a Super Bowl or play for a contender and no longer care about money due to the fact that they have made too much of it over the course of their career. Usually suggested when a former pro bowler over the age of 32 is released.

Anthony Mix - The 2020nd best player in fantasy football last year. A player that some Warpath members feel is the next TO due to the fact that he is approximately the size of the average NBA 2 guard. Mix is famous for recovering a squib kick against Seatle during the playoffs, which led to a missed Shaun Shuisam field goal.

OMG. Who the hell was responsible for paying a guy all that $ and he's never even caught 50 passes in one season? Pittsburgh must be laughing at us.

I would give Lloyd one more year. Like someone else mentioned we just have more pressing needs then to be going after more high priced WR's.

Re: Bernard Berrian

The Skins desperately need to score 21+ points per game. To accomplish that they need an a more dynamic explosive offense. Easily accomplished by adding a #1 flight receiver to take the double off of Moss. DS needs to keep the team in the press right up to the draft so I look for another big splash in a week or so. Chad Johnson or Roy Williams gives DS all of the press he could dream for. It's the big splash time of year.
