Re: Are we the Detroit Lions?
We need to up the anti-depressant medication I'm afraid. There is no comparison between the Lions and the Redskins. That is ridiculous.

Gotta love the Warpath.
One thread compares us to the Lions, while another explains why we need to use our draft picks on receivers. |

I know we made the playoffs two out of the last three years, and you cant ignore that, but I would say that we are similar to both Arizona and Detroit in that we are always the sleeper pick, or people think its out year becuase of free agents and top ten draft picks. we just were more fortunate to get big wins late in the year those two years. what about the last 15 years? we made the playoffs three times. I wonder about those two, ill try and look it up later

why because they drafted a lot of receivers? two of which were busts "Since drafting Art Monk (first round, 1980) and Charlie Brown (eighth round, 1981), the Redskins have not had a great deal of success in drafting wide receivers. The rest of the 1980s included relative unknowns in Curtland Thomas and Eric Yarber. The 1990s included high-profile picks Desmond Howard and Michael Westbrook, neither of whom made a long-term impact. (Keenan McCardell was selected in the 12th round of the 1991 draft, but he played sparingly for the Redskins.) In recent years, Rod Gardner, Darnerien McCants and Taylor Jacobs were among selections at wide receiver. " theres our track record on drafting receivers... or because we had two years in the last five with winning records and they didnt. In 03 we were both 5-11, in 2004 we were both 6-10. In 2005 we were 10-6 while they were only 5-11. In 2006 we were killed them with a 5-11 record, they only had three wins...then this year we had two more wins after they fell apart with a 6-2 start. But youre right, we have nothing in common. they have a horrible GM. We dotn have a GM so technically our GM has never made a bad signing. Though if you look at whatever the hell Vinnys title he, Im pretty sure hes signed a free agent or two that turned out to be overpayed and under performed. we both rotate coachs as if you only get a one year contract (over the last ten years). and sadly, they have had less starting qbs than us too... Im not sayign we are the same team, but if everyone is going to just keep bashing peoples comments lets put some reasons behind it. There are plenty of reasons why we are different, try doing some research

Re: Are we the Detroit Lions?
This opening thread is stream of consciousness garbage. There are no hard facts that draw any correlation between the Lions and the Redskins. In fact, i'll argue the one i was sort of able to pull out of the mud. You compared the national sports fan reaction to our drafts as comparable to that of Detroits drafts?? I don't understand, our biggest criticism has been the fact that we're never actually in the draft. We all know that since 99 we have dished our draft picks in the wrong trades. Detroit hasnt done that, they've just drafted the wrong guys. I think the few draft picks we've had, we've made the most of.
Again, draw some more connections for me. Something other than your opinion that we currently suck, and your opinion that Detroit currently sucks. I need something a touch more concrete. |

Re: Are we the Detroit Lions?
I don't understand why the correlation to the Lions? I'm sure you could compare and contrast the Skins with any team if you tried hard enough.
Sounds like people are just trying to find things to bitch about now.

Re: Are we the Detroit Lions?
No we are the Redskins. A good way to tell them apart is that we have an indians face on our stuff and the lions. Well, they have a Lion on their stuff.

Re: Are we the Detroit Lions?
We're probably laughed at more so for having such dumb fans. Seriously, I bet DynamiteRave feels like she's that girl from the Thriller trapped as zombies close in all around her. Except, instead of a pack of zombies it's a bunch of morons.
(there's a song here, I know it)

Re: Are we the Detroit Lions?
I dont acutally think we are like the Lions, I was just calling you out for saying there is no comparisson because Im tired of everyone else whinning and writing comments that just bash other peoples opinion and give no reason. So if you just wrote that because youre tired of people whinning too then tooche.

Re: Are we the Detroit Lions?
I like the argument that we have too much turn over like Snyder fired Gibbs.
