Re: What's Portis think of Vick Now?
Honestly, Vick has never impressed me at all. When he runs, I'm like, "Meh, he's fast for a QB." That's all I've ever thought of him.

Re: What's Portis think of Vick Now?
Can a fair argument be made, particularly if he's found guilty of these charges, that Vick is the biggest #1 overall draft pick bust of all-time? Taking into account how hyped he was coming into the league.
My personal feeling is no he wouldn't be, but I wonder what others think.

Re: What's Portis think of Vick Now?
I would say that would be fairly accurate. I think he's a bust now, even WITH the Pro Bowls. There was NOTHING to compare to the hype he got. I don't think a player has been hyped like him since.

Re: What's Portis think of Vick Now?
I think there are bigger busts - people who never contributed anything, like Steve Emtman - but I think Vick is maybe the most shocking collapse of an NFL career, at least that I can remember. Think about it. Coming off his national championship performance he came into the league as a heralded number one pick, excelled in his second season, broke a 30 year playoff winning streak at Lambeau, made the cover of Madden, got hurt but then played in the NFC championship game the following year, and then....
Two straight late season collapses and mediocre numbers followed by the most ignominious exit that I can remember in my lifetime. It's a tragic story really. |

Everyone wants to jump on how Vick doesn't have a high completion % and all that crap. But IMO the guy is never going to be a 60% to 65% passer. He's never going to be Steve Young. Perhaps he could be if he got the correct coaching. I know before Young got to SF he was a mess. But I just don't think the pocket is his game. His game is creativity and playmaking. The guy rushed for a 1,000 yards last year and had 20tds and only 13ints. Plus he has taken his team to the playoffs a couple of times including an NFL Champ game. IMO you can win with Vick as your QB. An important question to ask is how did ATL fare when he was out of the line-up a few years ago when he broke his leg in pre season? They were horrible! Not meaning to bring up a QB debate, but Brunell had a better rating than Vick last year. But if you asked 32 NFL defensive coordinators who would you rather face, Vick or Brunell? I would bet $1,000 32 out of 32 NFL defensive coordinators would pick Brunell. Some things the guy does just don't show up in the stat sheets. |
