Odd request. I'll PM it to you

So is it safe to say Jonathan Eubanks has no shot now?

Springs needs to be shown the door. The guy is a walking injury and we need new blood, meaning a guy that we can have around for at least 4 years and consistently play. Focus on defensive needs with the draft plus maybe one young O lineman.

MACKLIN GIVES 'SKINS A DISCOUNT

The Washington Redskins have a reputation for overpaying free agents. On Thursday, a free agent specifically took less money for a chance to join the team.

Per Adam Schefter of NFL Network, cornerback David Macklin rejected more lucrative offers from the Chiefs and Eagles to sign a one-year, $760,000 deal with the 'Skins.

Macklin accepted the lower deal because he is from Newport News, Virginia, and grew up as a Redskins fan. Also, Macklin always wanted to play for Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs.

Macklin is a seven-year veteran who spent the first fiour seasons of his career with the Colts and the last three with the Cardinals. He started the last six games of the 2006 season in Arizona.
Well no sh*t! Let's bask in the glory here some. We don't get chances like this to gloat too often. Maybe we'll make up for it by signing John Carney to a 8 year $29M contract or something

Re: David Macklin our new CB

I think Carlos played a lot of good football last year. He got burned a a few times for sure but most of us who seem to think lss of him are over-valuing a few things that made him look bad.

1. He dropped every interception thrown his way. At the end of the day though he did break up the passes I gues.
2. The Scheme had all the corners playing way off. Made him look terrible.

The question is did they have him play off becuase he sucks or because they had no cnfidence in anybody behind him? I am expecting CR to step it up this year and become a pretty decent corner.

Re: David Macklin our new CB

Good job Redskins on this signing. I can finally shut up about wanting another corner, thank God the FO agreed with me on this one.

Grim, as far as a viable argument for moving Springs to safety there is only one thing that comes to my mind.

Older corners typically can extend there careers/ improver there productivity by switching to safety, so from his standpoint, I can definitely see that he would be willing to make the change. Also, Considering that last year when PP went down, all hell broke loose and we sucked.

I happen to agree with you that moving our best corner is a bad idea. What we need is a little help from the D-line and a certain unnamed corner to hold on to couple balls.

At any rate, with this signing we're solid at corner, and can finally focus on fixing up the d-line.

Re: David Macklin our new CB

Rod Woodson and Corey Fuller are two examples of top-notch corners who toward the twilight of their career moved to Safety. I think Springs can really help the team just by being on the field and as a safety he could arguably have a greater impact because he would have a better vantage point from which to "survey" the field, and be like a defensive QB.

However, my main gripe with moving Springs to safety is that I think he'd be better served as a free safety than a strong safety...so, would we move Taylor to strong safety?

Re: David Macklin our new CB

Being from Phoenix I have seen him more than I would like... Very nice Pickup. Will do well with our blitzing schemes. BUT, he will be another WTF CB down field....we shall see.

dont ever say that playing way off the guys on 3rd and 2 was scheme!!!! i am telling you from experience that there is no way in hell its scheme....and carlos rogers cant cover anyone esspecially a number 1 reciever. this guy is a draft bust but even if he does come around, he did not play good football last year and it was not scheme that determined how far off he was playing.....it was his coverage skills that determined that, he had no confidence and he cant cover period! no excuses for this donkey, if shawn springs does not play corner this year, you can count on people picking on rogers all day freaking long and smoot for that matter but smoot is better than rogers 100%.
