Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

I"m glad he got us to the playoffs...I'm glad he's kept his mouth shut...I'm not sure he was the right man for the job in the first place, but I agree that he did a man's job in 2006, and he helped us beat dallas 3 times, so overall...thanks MB

Honestly, if you don't have anything positive to add to the conversation there are plenty of F you Brunell threads already going on. Let's keep this thread positive since that was the purpose of SGG posting it. Let's at least respect the intent of the thread.
Let's all have a MB farewell party. I almost have tears in my eyes. He sure has a lot of character and fight.

Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

You got a lot of patience Mk72!

After reading the posts, I feel like I am eulogizing Brunell.
Anyway, I've been a Skins fan since 1970. I have seen a bunch skins stuff starting with Sonny, and George Allen. As you older skins fans can attest, there have been many memorable moments (good and bad) along the way. This last non-play off appearance drought has been long and painful. The success we had last season was SWEET and LONG OVERDUE. Brunell is not solely responsible for those victories. His courage, determination, and that of 52 others is. I thank them for that!
However, As long as I live I will NEVER forget the night in Dallas 2005 when lightning struck twice through the arm of MARK BRUNELL. He and Santana Moss did the unthinkable. They drove a stake through the heart of our MOST hated rivel. It righted many wrongs, gave us back some respectabliity.............. thankyou Mark

Is it really necessary to piss on the guy in a thread that's meant to appreciate him?

Seriously, why do you feel the need to be disrespectful? I'm not talking about disrespecting MB, I'm talking about disrespecting the people in this thread that would like to discuss the guy in a positive light.

Is is really so hard to just ignore a Brunell thread and keep your thoughts to yourself? Especially when someone has requested this?

Well, anyone could've done that. Besides, it was just Santana running under a couple of overthrown balls. <sigh>

To all the haters: Please just stop. MB gave us all some pretty good memories as Skin's fans and contributed to our late season playoff run.

Good on 'ya mate!

Matty, despite the fact Gibbs has made the change to Campbell, do you have any second thoughts about speaking of Brunell in the past tense? I say that because we all know how enamoured Gibbs is with Brunell, and we still have fond memories of the last QB change. Trust me, I hope the change is permanent, but at the same time it seems as though a complementory salute to Brunell (at this time) is a bit premature, not that he should not be complemented for his efforts here, even though he fell short of expectations.

Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

Whenever I think of Mark Brunell it will always be the awesome games he has last year.

His two TD passes to Moss against Dallas.

His Scramble and then his pass down the middle to Moss against Seattle.

His 300 yard passing Game in Denver.

His 70 screen pass against Kansas City.

His near perfect passing game against the 49ers.

A convincing win over the Eagles.

Great play in the shootout with the Buccaneers.

Brunell and Cooley hooking up to smash the Cowboys 35-7.

Smacking the Giants after an embarassing 36-0 loss.

And the image of Brunell with his arm in the air walking into the locker room after a huge win against the Eagles will forever be burned in my mind.

He did magical things for this team last year, almost like the Brett Favre of old. But time moves on and Brunell can not physically keep up with the game any more, lets hope he remains as classy as he has always been.

Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

It's good to see that we're ready to move forward and give Campbell a chance. It's even better to see Brunell (at least in public) take it like a man and be willing to step down to help the team. And for those of you who think (a) that class and dignity mean nothing or (b) such qualities can be bought I've got two words for you from recent Redskin history...

Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

I said this before we even learned Brunell was going on the bench, looking at things as a whole, I'm a Mark Brunell guy. I have both his home/away jersey from when he was with Jax, I truly loved to watch the guy play, he's a complete class act, and just a good guy. He did not have a good run here, I'm glad he's on the bench, but I really like all the guy did in his career. If we had Mark Brunell from 1998, we probaboly would have won the super bowl last season.

Atomicnixon,

Nice summary of Brunell's highlights as a Redskin.

Re: The Official Thank You Mark Brunell Thread

I have the utmost respect for the man. He performed some absolute miracles for our team over the last few years. Sweeping the cowboys? playoffs?? Those two ideas were just dreams to redskins fans everywhere of late. Though I have been pretty rough on him this season, I truely will miss him and loved all the effort he put into our team. I hate to see anyone struggle near the end of their career and I hope he still plays a solid role in education JC on the mental aspects of the game.

I'll miss you, Mark.
