Same here. I'm glad they did not follow the popular trend and throw a gray mask on. The leather helmet needs the least-visible facemask possible since they played without them back then, so black works the best.

Nike Elite Home Chris Cooley Jerseys at RedskinsTeamStore.com

SO i was checking to see if the new jerseys were on sale yet... and noticed that Cooley's Nike jersey is discounted $50 compared to the rest. Is that normal or is that signaling a roster move?

I just zoomed on it and it didn't distort much. I might print it out on some 11" x 17" and hang it up.

Still $250.00! The custom and RGIII are $300.00 so I think it's more of a case of those other jerseys just having higher prices because they can get away with it.

On the lower-level jerseys, Cooley is the same price as everyone else.

They'd never discount a player jersey while still on the roster; they wait until he's gone.

Nothing to worry about.

I pray that Nike does not know about our roster moves before we make them. That would be ridiculous.

Well since last season all signs point to him no longer being the starting TE, so I would imagine that's the reason why.

I was only suggesting because it was the team store, not NFLShop.com. I would imagine the team store might have a bit more insight given Danny's love of money... still, like the artist formerly known as Buster said, odds are it's a product of the high demand for customized and RGIII jerseys.

Re: 2012 NFL Uniform Thread - Nike takes over

Since we were located in Boston before we moved to D.C. do you believe that BC used that same color scheme to compliment the pro team or could it have been the other way around?

Interesting side topic.

BTW love the new alternate unis. I also think the helmet is sick as it is something new and different.

I think it is the "other way" around as we started in 1932 and BC started in 1892.

I think you are correct. Plus let's not forget that back (wayyyy back in the days) college football was a bigger deal than pro football.

Cool story about the dog. He belonged to Turk Edwards (No. 17) and his name was "Brick". He was considered a good luck charm b/c of something that happened in the first game of the Championship Season.

Quote:
Before their first game (home against the Giants), Brick got into the [Redskins] locker room and stole the pants of back-up tail back, Max Krause (No. 25), from his locker while the players were getting ready for the game. Krause (who didn't particularly like the dog) tried to get his pants back. Brick growled at Krause, lunged at him and then chased Krause around the locker room (Imagine a football locker room in the 30's and you can imagine just how amused the rest of the team was by this). Edwards eventually got Brick under control and much laughter ensued. At game time, Krause had to wear the torn pants because, back in the day, George Preston Marshall didn't splurge for extras.

Krause had played for the Giants for the previous four years and was a pretty run of the mill player. Well, on the first play of the game Cliff Battle loses his shoe and comes out to fix it. Krause goes in and breaks a long run, going 65 yards for a touchdown (his only one of the year it turns out). As Krause is running down the sideline, Battle shouts out "Hey look, Maxie thinks Brick is still chasing him!" - cementing the team's adoption of Brick as the mascot for the year. From then on, Brick went on every road trip and got into every locker room. No one knows, however, if Krause got new pants.

1893 actually. Here's the original roster from 1893 and they're clearly wearing black and white uniforms here.

Helmet shots from the producer, HGI. If you go back to the gold Jags helmet in the beginning of the thread, it's the same company. They also designed the Seahawk's new helmets, those REALLY shiny gold helmets that Notre Dame wore last season along with Oregon's carbon fiber and those crazy mirrored black chrome for the Bowl game and Ohio State's camouflage helmets.
