RGIII RAISES THE BAR on our concepts of competitiveness and team spirit. I've never seen anything like his hobbling back onto the field, favoring his right leg, to play until he collapsed. He has the ability and the fire to carry the whole team on his shoulders.

Some ten yrs ago a journeyman qb named Jeff George started for the Skins in a nationally televised game. Remember him? During one snap the ball came loose and squirted around, players of both teams diving for it. But not Jeff George. He stepped daintily backwards, his hands half raised as if to say, I can't get my shirt dirty.

Let's appreciate RGIII while we have him. Which I hope is for a long, long time.

Basically a helmet to the knee, no structural damage. Trainors (not the high school girl ones) looked at it and said it was a "sprain." (no MRIs or x-rays), but I couldn't walk for the rest of the day, then not much the next day. It had me very worried..... But by day three it was much better, and I was back practicing by day 4. Missed no time during the season, which opened about a week later.

I guess my point is that these things happen, and if there is no structural damage the rule of thumb should (or at least for me) be that you play when you feel you can. Just because it hurts or looks bad doesn't mean it is bad.

Of course RGIII is a $100+ million asset (not investment, asset), so I would not expect him back on the field until the Pope says its ok.
Hopefully this is how it will go with Griffin. I'm with Matty on this one. If he's cleared to play I play him. We're in the middle of a playoff race. But if there's any sign of limping or restricted mobility, I wouldn't hesitate to put KC in. But I would only do it if Dr. Andrews assured me he was good to go and playing on it would not cause further damage.

Kinda ironic that you think we made a mountain out of the molehill when you started this mess with a long post quoting 6 Warpath members...

It was your mountain, NC.

Re: Ravens at Redskins Post Game Thread (RG3 MRI Result-Sprained Knee)

Everyone also wants to blame the coaches for every RG3 run. Yes there are some designed runs, but I think the majority are plays that break down and RG3 is forced to run to try and get a first down. In this case the play broke down and he took off. RG3 himself admitted that he turned inside towards the center of the field and realized his mistake and tried to get down quickly. However had he turned outside he might have been able to run out of bounds or get down cleaner and not take a bad hit. Also the coaches can teach him how to slide but he didn't do that he dove head first for the 1st down.

Also when he got hit in the back was he running or standing in the pocket? I thought he was in the pocket for that nasty hit.

Put RG3 in a brace that won't allow his knee to hyperextend and give him some lateral stability and play him. Roll him out very little and hopefully no designed run plays for him.

Re: Ravens at Redskins Post Game Thread (RG3 MRI Result-Sprained Knee)

Finally got to finish watching the game early this morning. It was our most incredible win thus far...took the whole team. The last time we saw this kind of "teamwork" was 2007 IMO. Everyone has rallied around RG3 IMO.

The pass protection was (marginally) better than what we've seen most of the season too. RG needs to protect himself better. He's too smart not to, if that makes sense.

It would be a mountain if I made some qualifying statement, berated, or somehow made some point to them posting what they did. As it is, I did not. All I did was add to Matty's statement that many people called it "Game Over' before it was over. Nothing more. Nothing less. I didn't create the mountain, many of you butt hurt over god knows what are making this something that it isn't.

EDIT: So this qualifies as a "LONG POST"?

Good for the Ravens, they were able to run the ball on us but elected to throw it more in the second half even with a lead. I thought if they kept running the ball we would have been in trouble. But good thing they fired him after our game and not before

Re: Ravens at Redskins Post Game Thread (RG3 MRI Result-Sprained Knee)

Grant Paulsen ‏@granthpaulsen

The #Ravens scored 3 TD's on their first 4 drives. They had seven full drives after that. Results: Punt, Fumble, INT, Punt, Punt, TD, Punt.

Really good closing defense.

as for our offense:

Grant Paulsen ‏@granthpaulsen

#Redskins' offense: 1st in rushing, 1st in yds/play, 1st in passing yds/play, 3rd in rushing yds/play, 3rd in goal-to-go, 7th in scoring

As I've mentioned repeatedly, safety is our number one need this offseason. Although not ideal, we could live with our current CBs with good safeties. While I expect a new starter (or two) at CB next season, it won't mean squad if we don't get a starter-caliber FS.
Rak is fine but we another horse on the front 7 that can cave in the pocket. I think we're fine at corner. Perhaps we'll get lucky with one or two of the guys that are hurt/suspended, get one more in the draft/FA and then get a better rush. I firmly believe that if you can rush the passer then you can win. The Giants have proved that.
