Re: Changing The Team Name, Give It A Rest!!
Red wolves wasn't the most popular choice though. Just saying. Warriors and something else were ahead. That said I'll always call them the Redskins no matter what they are called. Just be happy he didn't go with Redwolves or that name would have been the stain he left behind that most would want dropped.

Re: Changing The Team Name, Give It A Rest!!
All the toxic work place stuff is over with and Dan will soon be gone, so to me that is in the past. The present is what matters, not what happened in the past.
I think the new group needs to get in here and roll their sleeves up. I think the right time for a name change would be when they go into the new stadium or a year before. You can't change the name after just changing it. No way that happens. The smart thing to do would not go w/ Redwolves or anything w/ RED. But go to something that was in the fight song. The Washington Warpaths sounds fucking fantastic and that would resonate w/ our fanbase. You go w/ that and put an arrow on the helmets, that is us. You mean to tell me people wouldn't like that? But Commanders one day has to go and never be heard from again. Ever. That name has to be bad for business. |

It's a little bit ironic that we started a thread about putting to rest the idea of changing the name...

The new ownership is going to cash in right away by having an owner not named Snyder. They're going to have to spend money on stadium and facilities upgrades. Keim said it best, one of the biggest red flags when Snyder took over the team is that he approached it as a fan. We definitely don't want that in this new ownership. Re: Changing The Team Name, Give It A Rest!!
Well maybe some people may get their wish:
https://twitter.com/JoshGerben/statu...92059813470208 Although I see this reverting back to the Washington Football Team I guess. Also, this is the type of shit the new ownership probably doesn't want to go through in rebranding.

What are the Commanders' next steps? As for the "Commanders' Classic" registration, the team can: ➡️ file a response, arguing that a NFL team is unlikely to be confused with a single college game. ➡️ attempt to buy out the rights or sign a co-existence agreement. I believe the Washington Commanders will be able to work through these issues. It is likely the USPTO will drop the refusal due to the "Commander's Classic" trademark if a good legal argument is submitted. |

I read more into the thread and you are correct. And again, this shows the huge lift that is changing the name and it is something that I'm pretty sure the Harris team doesn't want to deal with.

The USPTO has denied the trademark application for the NFL's Washington Commanders. On May 18th, the USPTO issued the denial citing two reasons. 1⃣ An existing trademark for "Commanders' Classic." 2⃣ Pending applications filed by a DC-area man. |
