Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
meh. no gauranteed money is nice, but a 1st and 3rd for the honor of handing revis 96mill would make me uneasy.
i'd say good on the jets. revis is a headache, and even though you won't replace him with those picks, the extra money (and comp picks) will make the team a lot more flexible. |

1963 was the last draft that saw no running backs picked in Round 1 — a streak that could end next week. The first RB off the board in ’63 was Don Lisbon, in Round 3.

Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
It's a trade that makes a lot of sense for both teams. Tampa gets really good, really fast, and didn't have to get married to Revis in terms of contract or draft value. The Jets get one of the most valuable assets in the NFL (a first round pick) at the point when its most valuable (week of the draft, GMs first season in town), and gives Izdek enough ammo over the next two years to rebuild the Jets.
This doesn't mean the Jets are ever going to be as good without Revis as they were with him (in fact, I'd probably bet against it), but given where they were in terms of roster and cap, they needed the opportunity. The Bucs are probably on a shortlist of top NFC teams right now. They're right where they need to be in the NFC South...whether you'd take them over the Falcons isn't really an important thing to decide in April.

Let's remember how they ended the season last year (1-5), alot more questions than answers. I wouldnt move them ahead of the Saints nor the Falcons in that division. In regards to the trade, makes sense for both sides and like it for both. Revis is still the best corner in the league. I certainly dont think it produces 3-5 wins for Tampa automatically.

And the Falcons have a ton to prove as well. You can't take last years wins away from them, but you can point out that their point differential wasn't all that and they weren't particularly competitive in the playoffs last year after putting up a quick 20 points on the Seahawks. The Bucs are still a huge projection at this point, but they have a ton of continuity on their roster: beyond Revis and Goldson, they changed practically nothing from last season. The NFC South is not a division of world beaters. I don't think they'd be ahead of the Falcons in a set of power rankings done today, but midseason power rankings are way more important all things considered. I'd expect the Falcons to respond to this with an aggressive move up in the draft for a defensive player with an elite rating (Jordan or Milliner).

Freeman's the huge question mark on that team right now, but he was also the NFL's most improved player last year (from 2011), so maybe there's more upside there. And I think you said Flacco was average at this time last year...and all he did was spend 16 regular season games proving you right. It might work out in spite of Josh Freeman. New Orleans is just not good right now. That team is Brees, Graham, Jenkins, and a lot of over the hill guys (which may include Brees at this point, to be honest).

I keep forgetting about RG3's teammate Terrence Williams at Baylor. He is another 2nd rounder we could get should Hunter not be there, and assuming we really do address the offense first.

the Jets on the other hand, should they get a good QB like Geno, could benefit a lot from this trade.

Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
Updated, and FINAL mock
1. KC Eric Fisher-they supposedly like him more 2. Jax Luke Joeckel- they like him and need a lineman to protect their awful QB 3. Oakland Shariff Floyd- they need a pass rusher, and a DT, he's both. 4. Philly Dion Jordan- Chip Kelly will probably get someone he is familiar with and they're changing to a 3-4 which is where I think Dion should play. I really contemplated Eric Fisher here. 5. Detroit Dee Milliner- depends on if they like him more or Lane Johnson. 6. TRADE San Diego Lane Johnson -Cleveland trades because their guy Milliner wasn't there 7. Arizona Johnathan Cooper- A guard, SEXY..no but seriously their OL sucked all year. Makes the most sense to get the best OLineman available. 8. Buffalo Ziggy Ansah- Again, they need a lot. 9. New York Geno Smith- Sanchez sucks, So does this QB class, but even Genos better 10. Tennessee Chance Warmack- they need a guard that can go against JJ 2 times a year. 11. Cleveland Tavon Austin- Sorry Tavon, a great talent goes to a bad team. 12. Miami Sheldon Richardson- I was between him and Lotulelei, Sheldon doesn't have the heart red flag and is more battle tested in the SEC. 13. Jets Brakevious Mingo- Rex loves pass rushers and here is the best one available. 14. Carolina Star Lotulelei- They need a good DT here he is. 15. New Orleans Jarvis Jones- They're changing to a 3-4 heres an OLB from the SEC. 16. St. Louis Kenny Vaccaro- they cut Mikell, so heres their new FS. 17. Pittsburgh Cordarrelle Patterson- they need a lot, BPA of need is a WR who is physical and can make plays. 18. Dallas Johnathan Cyprien- They need a safety, he can play both positions. Jerry supposedly loves him; another surprise. 19. New York Giants Tank Carradine- He's supposedly ranked higher now than Werner. 20. Chicago Arthur Brown- they need an MLB to replace Urlacher. I was between Te'o, brown and Ogletree. Browns the least controversial of the 3. 21. Cincinnati Alec Ogletree- athletic MLB to replace Maualuga or can play OLB should Burfict move there. 22. St. Louis DeAndre Hopkins- They need a WR, he's a big play WR 23. Minnesota Manti Te'o- they need a MLB. Te'o fits well in that locker room and division. 24. Indy Jesse Williams- he can play DE and NT, I think they choose him over Datone Jones a DE 25. Minnesota Desmond Trufant- they need a CB to replace Winfield 26. Green Bay Datone Jones- a pass rushing DE to create pressure opposite Matthews. 27. Houston Keenan Allen- its between him and Minter; offense is getting old and one demensional. 28. Denver Slyvester Williams- they need a MLB, DT, DE, CB, S. Heres the BPA of need. 29. New England Bjoern Werner- just sounds like a patriots pick. 30. Atlanta Tyler Eifert- Heres Tony Gonzalezs replacement 31. San Francisco Zach Ertz- Jim Harbaugh supposedly loves Ertz and they lost Delanie Walker. 32. Baltimore Kevin Minter- amazing how all these great players of need falls to Baltimore. Lose Ray Lewis and Dannell Ellerbe; get McClain and Minter. (Could easily see a trade occuring here though for a QB needy team that wants to pay guaranteed money and years to a QB)

The Bucs would probably be a lot closer in the eyes of many. It's a long season though.

Re: Around the NFL-Draft News & Rumors
But throws Revis will make up a significant portion of Matt Ryan and Drew Brees' stats next year.
