Instead of the Yellow helmet with a red R...maybe go with our traditional Burgundy helmet with a Yellow R.

Maybe, but that would just look like a stripped-down version of the current.

Maroon, black, and yellow!

I love our uniforms. I hate the Florida State spear. The current logo is timeless. I love the three stripes over the top. I appreciate the simple design of the pants and jerseys, rather than the cluster like say Bills.

I like this allot, but if you think the Native Americans have a problem with what we have now this would make it worse. He looks angry almost like Hellboy.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

That's the thing, most Native Americans DO NOT have a problem...many that have an opinion feel more honored than offended.

It's the white people who are offended. Go figure.

If the Cleveland Indians' Chief Wahoo has survived this long, we have nothing to worry about...except being in D.C. I suppose, which will make us a target forever.

It's OUR look. We wore it in '65-'69.

SO many people call it an FSU look, I'm sick of it (nothing personal towards you)

Here's FSU in 1971-'74:

They didn't rip off the Redskins until about 1976 I believe...11 years after we first wore it.

Real Stuff Sports Serving Collectors Since 1980

Man, they had some UGLY helmets.

It looks like there's a big wang on the side of their helmet!

I hate to say it but I agree that the spear has become too associated with FSU regardless of who had it first. And the fact that we have a very similar color scheme doesn't help in the least. I think most people see that helmet and automatically think "Florida State" not "throwback Redskins."

I agree on both accounts. I like this helmet a lot, and I'd love to see it matched with the 70th anniversary throw-back uniforms. But yes, I could see this stirring a little controversy.

This helmet or not, I very much agree with those who have plugged the 70th anniversary uniforms. Those were fantastic. On the other hand, I think the all-burgundy uni created a new scale of ugly and rivaled in its awfulness some of 70s MLB uniforms (minus the excuse of "Well, it was the 70s after all").

They like to hate on the Skins' uniforms and name...I really think the over-sensitive PC crowd just hates anything Redskins because those white people are "offended" for Indians who aren't offended themselves. They're always trying to rename the team to the Warriors...or something even dumber.

People say we have outdated uniforms...but I think they're classic...that's why they're unchanged for a while. The color scheme looks GREAT. The striping is consistent (unlike the Giants) and there is no unnecessary/ugly piping like the new Vikings/Bills/Jags/many teams. Our colors match throughout unlike the Cowboys. Better yet, we have not gone the route of adding black for no reason, when it's not part of the team's color scheme, like the Eagles/Lions/Cardinals/49ers (who have removed it to their credit).

Since they added some metallic in the helmets for TV appeal, they look GREAT.

I wouldn't mind some gold pants or changing the yellow-gold to a true gold...but I think we have one of the best, classic yet great-looking uniform sets in the NFL.

Look at the modern crap being churned out by Reebok...the Vikings, Seahawks, Titans, Bills (WORST IN THE NFL), Giants, Jags (helmets are cool but unis are utter poop), Cardinals...be thankful we've stuck with tradition. If Nike ever gets the NFL uniform contract, may God have mercy on our eyes. Pro Combat = Colon Cleansing

I like the Pro Combat uniforms particulary the subdued black (flat black) helmets that VT was wearing the other night.

yeah, that flat black was badass.

Regarding an earlier post by Buster, I think Jags have by far the best helmets in the league. Love their colors.

Jags helmets are great.

Uniforms are a mess, the piping or number positioning is not even consistent. I saw different players with different-looking jerseys, but that's more of a manufacturing problem than a design flaw I guess.

I loved the flat black helmets as well. Incidentally flat black is the latest “old school” trend in hot rods now a days; perhaps they were influenced by that?
