Re: Dez Bryant says " I don't carry anyones pads" lol

Lol. I knew, as soon as I read this story online, that there would be a dedicated thread surrounding this.

I get a chuckle when I read posts about “Trouble in Cowgirl camp” about this. Trouble? Really? If this is a deep as the media has to dig to find something controversial to write about the entire Cowboys off season, then I surely welcome it. Bring it on.

So he refused to carry a vets pads. Where are the comments about Dez Bryant being the first player on the field for practice? A full 45 minutes before anyone else hit the field? Wheres the comments that Bryant was at the Alamodome ready for that first practice 2 hours before anyone else was there?

Where’s the comments that he was the first player that was selected in the, 1st round to sign?
How about when a reporter commented on how well this young man presented himself, the reporter commented on how he counted Bryant responding with “Yes SIR” 6 times in a five minute interview?

But when he refuses to carry shoulder pads for a vet WR whose only claim to fame is that he couldn’t catch water if he fell out of a friggin boat, THAT’S CONTREVERSY!?

Like I said, bring it on.

MonkFan nailed this...
This is a lack of humility thing.

Anyone not willing to lower their ego a bit for the sake of the team is likely to be prideful.

What does that mean?....me first, team second.

Does this affect ability...no...but it does affect team cohesion and trust...yes.

This issue sounds pretty familiar to Skins fans.

Re: Dez Bryant says " I don't carry anyones pads" lol

I have a problem with a rookie bucking the trend in the NFL. These rookies have to humble themselves a little in camp.

Remember last year when Orakpo was taped to the goal post. The shot of the other rookies carrying 10 helmets. This is just par for the NFL course. If he does not believe in it, I hope he isn't a hipocrite in coming years and makes other rookies do stuff for him. Which with the mobv mentality i am sure he will do.

It is just a part of the game, shut up and carry a set of shoulder pads.

I have to admit, I identify with this post a lot more than the general tone of this thread.

Bryant not carrying Roy's pads is a non issue when it comes to football. And it hardly indicates he's a TO personality in waiting.

That's a huge stretch.

Seems to be a bit big for his britches seeing as he's never taken a snap. That won't sit well with vets. Running laps around the alamodome high fiving fans seems a bit much too.

You keep using the word controversy (spellcheck is your friend btw). I don't see anyone screaming controversey except you. Bottom line is it's not positive and it's coming from Cowboys camp. This is a Redskins site. Why wouldn't we be all over this?

Your presence here always has and always will be annoying to me.

Re: Dez Bryant says " I don't carry anyones pads" lol

I don't see some big issue arising from this, or feel that the Cowboys are doomed cause Dez won't carry a set of shoulder pads, it is a indivdual problem with a player who feels as though he has already proven enough to win RW's job.

It was a topic of discussion on a Cowboys board as well... meh. It could (probably not) blow up in his face, but I do agree that I doubt this will make or break the Cowboys season. Now, one way it could is if it brought up some situation where JJ stuck his nose in, a la DS' meddling. Overall, any nuisance for the Cowboys is joy for me.

Good, nice to know it's working.

And I would not get too overly concerned about the Williams-Dez thing, like Williams said, he can go to "step two".

In other words, it is a player thing that will be handled by the players in the locker room. Im sure the other vets will step in as well.

Again if this is the biggest controversy surrounding the Cowboys off season (and thus far it is), it is a refreshing, welcome change of pace.

What with DT's not particiapting in mini-camps and demanding a trade AFTER cashing the check.

A 2 time Super Bowl winning QB getting suspended for 4-6 games.

DFROY suspended for illegal drugs.

Yeah, I'll take this any day of the week,

Re: Dez Bryant says " I don't carry anyones pads" lol

Well sandtrap I can tell you that if this were a Redskins player this thread would be up to page 35 by now filled with posts of he's an idiot and he needs to be cut. I don't think this is a serious issue but it can be. If he produces then nobody gives a shyt, but if he has an issue then you will see this again. Just saying. But my feelings on teh refusal are still the same. Yes you are there to play football and to win games but don't take yourself so seriously. If it were something like "pay this $10,000 tab Rook" or "Yeah I stabbed his ass!, rookie should've gotten out of the chair so I could get a shape up" then I can understand. But bitching about carrying pads and masking it with the whole I'm here to do business thing..... that's bs to me. That's just me. But like I said before, I could care less what goes on in Texas. F that bastard and that ugly ass star!

You're actually alright with me though, besides the fact that you're a dirty worthless Cowboy fan.

Re: Dez Bryant says " I don't carry anyones pads" lol

Yeah it's a total non-issue in terms of how it will affect the W/L column. But it is kind of funny.

In most cases, rookies should just go along to get along, and deal with the traditions. But in this case, Roy is the guy he's in direct competition with. Roy probably shouldn't be making Dez do anything, because now if Dez takes his job, Roy will look like the biggest jackass ever. If I were Dez and saw that I was named the starter on the depth chart, I'd be rubbing it in Roy's face so hard. That's what I hope happens.

Roy Williams ain't shit. He shouldn't be asking anyone to carry anything, rookie or not. What a bozo.

Dude we are talking about Roy Williams wanting him to carry his pads not Emmit Smith or Troy Aikman. I'm guessing most players on Dallas agree with him for not wanting to play along with his games.

Well, to be truthful, Bryant should have just carried the pads. It seems trivial compared to the media consequences.

But then again, what would that leave us to talk about?

It doesn't matter who it is...if you are a rookie...you are expected to do what all rookies do...regardless if you are a first rounder or undrafted.
If a vet of any caliber asks you to carry your pads...you respond with...can I carry your helmet too?

Humility is what builds trust, pride in oneself does not.

And yeah...maybe its a stretch at this point because it was just a microscopic little thing not worth reporting yet...but my point is about "attitude".

Hopefully this small glimpse of this guy festers into overbearing arrogance that we are all so familiar with when it comes to Cowboys wide receivers.
Just more reason to hate them.

Re: Dez Bryant says " I don't carry anyones pads" lol

I dont think its a big deal, just shows the character of Dez Bryant. The guy obviously isnt humble at all. It doesnt matter who asks him to do it, as long as he is a rookie he should just do it. Its not like he was being publicly hazed or humiliated.

If he performs, then it might not hurt the team, but this move is definitely something TO or some other self-serving diva would do.
