Cooley definitely has the potential to be one of those 'true Redskins' that Gibbs speaks of.

Manning didn't demand a trade, behind closed doors he quietly asked that the Chargers not draft him, I certainly don't blame him.

Cooley vs Taylor jerseys

My custom-made Sean Taylor jersey arrived two weeks ago, and I must say it looks sweet. (Of course, it would look better on me if I was 6'2 and wore a visor, but hey, I digress.) I ordered it because I think Taylor is going to be a fearsome DB for the Skins for a long, long time and I want to be able to say "I got his jersey before he even played a down for us."

A Cooley jersey would be awesome, too. I think he'll turn into a modern-day Clint Didier.

Hes had the injury bug ever since he was in the NFL but ify ou think he is overrated and not that good then you need to start watching football more, then make an assesment.
i was thinking the same thing about you. anyways, his blocking is suspect, durability is a horrible issue for his so called "toughness", and if you dont know the names i put up earlier, then you dont know what a TE is. more then half of their job is blocking. and being that im from NY, you cant tell me anything. Ive seen more of what the media dont show of him. with the skins,, i believe terrell was crunched more than our linebackers were.

I really like what little I have seen of Cooley so far.I believe that Gibbs has found himself a diamond in the rough and isnt trying to let on.

Cooley is a typical role player. Smart kid that works hard and tries his best to stay on the same page as the rest of the team. He doesn't believe he is bigger than the game. He will be the type of player that stays in the league for a long time and be productive for whatever team he plays for. I'd take him on my team over shockey anyday, except on fantasy draft day.

My thoughts exactly. Although they appear to be two sides of the same coin, I think the Cooley/Didier comparison is right on point. Didier was more of a speed guy, Cooley appears to be a more power guy. Didier was never considered one of the top TE's in the league (as far as I can recall, I don't think he ever made the pro bowl) - He just didn't have the talent to be considered elite. He did, however, have the talent to be a very good TE in Gibbs offense, a weapon that was ignored at the opposing D's risk. I believe Cooley will be the same AND I think Gibbs will find lots of ways to get him involved.

As for Shockey, lots of talent, lots of hype and, as for the rest - JoeC said it all best.

Actually I think our answer to Shockey is Sean Taylor. Man, I can't wait to see them go at it!

Thank you smootsmack. You are 100% correct. I can't wait to see Taylor flatten that over rated jerk. And make no mistake about it - he IS over rated. 24 games played and he has a whopping 4 whole TDs. That's one every 6 games.

(I know he was hurt for 7 games last year)
