EAGLES, 'SKINS OUT OF WALKER SWEEPSTAKES

A league source tells us that the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins are no longer among the teams interested in acquiring the services of receiver Javon Walker.

There's a suspicion that Walker's agent is puffing in this regard, overstating to the media the interest in the player in an effort to create a market for him.

Walker was traded from the Packers to the Broncos in 2006, and was released recently in order to avoid a significant roster bonus
Granted, this is PFT so take it with a grain of salt, but if true it would seem to indicate that maybe the Eagles think they have a good shot at Randy Moss and maybe the Redskins are thinking of Hackett or indeed drafting a WR (though I really think they don't need to spend a first round pick on one)

They may be. I think the Bucs might be interested in Walker as well.

I could see the Titans being interested in Hackett. I know he's interested in them.

Other than Todd Collins, the Redskins have not signed anyone yet in FA yet? Right?

Ugh. It seems EVERY TIME a blockbuster signing happens, it's in the NFCE. TO a couple years ago and now maybe Moss.

Why don't WE take a look at Moss? Apparently he is loving those short term contracts like the Pats gave him. Is he looking for a long term deal?

Im high on Bryant Johnson -- I think hes a Marcus Washington type signing. Getting ready to hit his stride to be a very good player for us, but won't bankrupt us.

because we don't have the space for him, and I am not sure, but I think we can't "borrow" against the cap. Meaning if we had 2 mil in cap space, and Moss wanted 3 mil, we couldn't sign him. Again, not sure, but what is for certain is that Moss will seek a minimum of 7 mil a year.

Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?

It looks like Crumpler is going to the Titans (link should be up soon I think), which could mean Hackett is less likely to go there.

It looks as though Alge might be on his way to the Titans, per PFT.com?, but not so fast says Alges agent.....no deal done yet.

Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?

If we don't get D.J Hackett then we have to somehow acquire Roy Williams or Ocho Cinco(after June 1).We have too much of a glaring need for DL & OL to waste any of our first 3 picks on a WR.Other than Hackett there is no other worthy receiver for us to even seriously consider unless of course we get rid of Mccardell,Thrash, and Espy. Then maybe you can entertain thoughts of Jabar Gaffney,Greg Camarillo or Devard Darling. If we have to draft a receiver 6th or 7th rd.would make sense.I fear that if we go for a WR in the first 3 rds. or draft is wasted because then you have to pick uo DL or OL in FA and at that point the quality guys will NOT be there IMO.

Wow, is Larry Fitzgerald not a possible FA? If he is then he gets my vote. This guy is a linebacker playing wide-out.

Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?

It looks like Bryant Johnson may be signing with the Bills...though not officially confirmed yet

"Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- Two sources reported on Sunday evening that the Buffalo Bills have reached a tentative agreement with free agent WR Bryant Johnson, however the team has not made an official statement either way."
