Re: Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
If the Dallas first round pick from Purdue who is very light doesn't pan out and obviously he is no sure thing then they had a terrible draft. Yes the first next year was a good move, but it's not like the Cowboys are all that and can afford to give away this years draft.

Re: Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
DAL had an OK draft this year. I'm not scared now that they have Spencer (projects as OLB) but, they could have found an eventual starter on the OL in Free and Marten. PHI was foolish to trade with a divisional rival after DAL already benefitted from the CLE trade. Notheless, PHI still made out with some pretty good picks (Kolb has questionable value being PHIs first). ATL seems to have had the best draft without owning the first pick in the top of each round. Quite a few familiar mock-draft names.

Re: Quinn goes to Cleavland, but Dallas gets a 2nd and a 1st next year
A 6"3" 261 3-4 OLB is a paper weight?

I like Anthony Spencer a lot. I think he can be another Demarcus Ware type. I'ts annoying that the Cowboys got him. Nice pick up for them.

Ellis is coming off an achilles injury, last years 1st rounder, Bobby Carpenter is a better ILB than OLB so Spencer made a lot of sense. Not only can Spencer get after the passer, but he had 93 tackles drom a DE spot and 26.5 of those were tackles for a loss. Combine this with Ware and proven commodity defensive coach in Phillips who's staple is bringing pressure, Im licking my chops. The best line I saw was a reaction from an Eagles fan "We just made a trade with hated rival Dallas and allowed them to draft a guy who is going to kill Kevin Kolb." Awesome! The only thing that pissed me off about the pick were the moron Dallas fans at the draft who were pissy that we didnt draft a corner. WTF? For over a decade, since Haley retird (the 1st time) all we had was a secondary that to cover all friggin day because we couldnt create a pass rush because of bozos like Dave Campo and Mike Zimmer and idiotic draft choices from Jerrah Retards

Not saying it won't work, because if said players are talented enough it will work fine, but it just seems unbalanced to me. If this team ever gets a coach who wants to move back to the 4-3, it would be a disaster.

Spencer, like Ware, definitely has the athleticism to make the conversion. Hes not quite the athlete Ware is but he plays with more power and had the ability to flatten out that better than Ware (has demonstrated to this point) And unlike Parcells/Zimmer scheme, our LB's will NOT be playing in reverse nearly as much as they have. The Chargers had 61 backs last year with Phillips running the Bolts D. OLB's Shaun Phillips and Shawne Merriman had 28.5 of those by themselves Thats only 5.5 less sacks than we had 34 as a team last year I like the OL picks--Flozell Adams will be gonne after this year and Columbo is only signed through '08. Free will likely be our LT next year and Maten our RT in '09 The real wildcard is fromer QB soon to be WR Isiah Stanbeck in the 4th. Cowboys Director of Scouting Jeff Ireland nearly creamed himself when talking about this guy. Says Stanbeck compares to Anquan Boldin but with 4.35 to 4.4 better speed. Not bad for a guy 6'2" and 216 He'll be used as a 4th or 5th WR, tried @ KO and punt returns, a potential holder (insert Romo joke), used on specialty plays from the shotgun. Tremendous versatility We got a PK who at worst will be a kickoff specialist for us this year--were were 19th in the league in average opponent starting position. Folk had a very good leg and had the best combine workout. One of the 2 corners we drafted in the 7th will beat out our 5th CB and the other will at worst wind up on the PS if he clears wavers And I havent even mentioned Clevelands number 1 next year who many of us hope turns into Darren McFadden

This also allows a guy named Pat McQuistan, a 7th rounder from last years draft, to slide to LG and compete with Kyle Kosier. As you may now, we resigned out PB alternate C Gurode and RT Columbo and broke the bank to sign Leonard Davis. We got finally numbers and quality prospects

Larry Allen has more talent in his nutsack than Leonard Davis and you couldn't get anywhere when Allen was your guard. |

I have to admit, when we signed him (before resigning Columbo) I was deeply concerned with him @ OT going yp against Strahan, Umenyiora, Kearse, Tren Cole and even Daniels Kosier, according to what our OL coach says, graded out as our most efficent blocker The 7th rounder from last year provides a reminder to Kosier to continue to play @ a high level and depth as do Free and Marten LA is a once in 25 year kinda guy. He was a pro bowler @ 3 different OL positions, including LT in '98. before he got too involved in power lifting--he lost his agility his last 4 years while in Dallas LA in his prime and John Hannah (IMO) were the 2 best guards in NFL history

Re: Shoot, Dallas had a great draft
Im quite pleased
I liked our draft And the Cleveland trade somewhat helps erase the memory of the Joey Galloway trade of 7 years ago
