Give Saunders another year for his offense to integrate with these players, if we’re as incompetent and inept this time next season, then get rid of him. Williams has proven he can coordinate a top five defense, so I’m not going to throw him under the bus because the players that worked 2 years ago now appear old.
I agree. Even though we have had a disastrous season to this point, I can see some positives. I don't know about you guys, but I can see some sparks in the offense. Campbell has some growth to do, we all agree with that, but it appears he can create the sparks we need, and leadership we need to have a super offense. The offense (minus Brunell) is much more explosive. It just stalls due to inexperience at the leadership position right now. We were up 14-0 vs Atlanta and looked like we would destroy them, then we died. Give Campbell some more time and we'll be fine.
Saunders offense will succeed if we give it time. Williams is a great defensive coach...the D has done well the past two games...we just have no depth at CB. In a passing league, that spells huge problems. Bailey and Smoot are laughing at us now.
So, if we sure up the D with CB's next year, we'll see a huge difference. I'm trying not to be overly optimistic, but I can see where we lack, and if we fix it, we can make a sizable difference. 5-11 is likely, but I could see us pull a worst to first scenario next season.

I feel the above quoted comment is his "escape clause". Time will tell.
and i will support the man from both sides of the fence ..
he wants to get this thing going in the right direction and he feels this is still the place to be.i will simply go thru this painful period to see this team back where it needs to be.remember this is a 5 year plan maybe more ...
i respected joes decision then and i will respect his decision now and i,m grateful he decided to come back..
and speaking of nascar he is doing great now winning 3 cup titles with bobby labonte, tony stewart, and now denny hamlin winning rookie honors and hopefully a cup title there too.he wins with the people and he knows how to get those people in the right places....might want to add JD gibbs has done great there since 1997 as joes team president of jgr.
time will indeed tell all ..for me i hope he stays until he gets it right from the front office to the sidelines and to the players and coaches....

i,m glad to see him put this thing to bed...

I'm not sure I share that optimism now. I did when he came back, but what exactly does he do now? He has a plethera of outstanding coaches, so what is Gibbs doing to make him worth 5 mil a year? It's not motivation, it's not winning mentality. I know that sounds negative, and I'm sorry. I just think if we are going to win, it's going to be thanks to Williams, Bugel, and Saunders.
At least Gibbs is smart enough to agree with bringing in super coaches.

so what does that make you?? i dont see why you dont think it will be better next year. and if you are wrong on your guarantee whats in it for the rest of us??
Mod please save this Guarantee so we can pull it out next year and rub it in his face.

Look at the bright spot of this season:

High Draft Choice and Easy Schedule next year.

anyway, i am done with stating the way i feel about the franchise and the coaching staff. and i apologize for having such high expectations for the franchise that i love.

You, my friend, are an idiot. Last year= second round of the playoffs, if that's not "realistic" I don't know what is...

The only thing that needs to change is the director of player personnel. Bring Beathard back, Casserly, pry away Scott Peoli from New England ... something. Anything but the dopes that are in charge now. I know some will disagree, but even those people have to admit that the strategy we have used for the past three seasons with Gibbs, and every other year except for the ‘01 season under Schottenheimer have been an outright disaster.
I agree. BB won't come back becasue he and Gibbs can't co-exist. But Casserly would not be a bad move. People forget that when he left the Skins were in real good shape. We were under cap and had draft picks. Now look at us. No draft picks and it may be 2-3 years before we can be good again.

Completely different reason the first time. At the point, he was feeling the effects of his diabetes big time, and already proven all he needed to prove as an NFL coach, and of course wanting to be with his family. Now, his diabetes is under control, he's proven what he wanted to in racing, his family is all grown, and he feels the need to prove himself once again in the NFL. Gibbs won't give up until he feels him stepping aside is the only way to turn things around with this team.
