Another team would have to put together a real blockbuster deal to pull Williams away from Washington. That's not to say it won't happen, but from the sound of it, Williams would want a personnel situation similar to what Gibbs has here with the Redskins-- meaning as head coach he would have significant control over personnel decisions, and the ownership would be willing to spend whatever is necessary to make those decisions a reality. There simply aren't that many franchises where that situation would work-- at least not with someone with a less-than-stellar head coaching record like Williams's. I think Williams knows how good he has it here, and I think he's competitive enough that he wouldn't back down from the challenge of filling Gibbs's hallowed shoes when Gibbs retires.

This is the type of character that Joe Gibbs keeps around him. This is why he is a HOF coach and this is why the players play so hard for them. This is why Snyder wanted Gibbs back....stability, consistency, and CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL!

Who knew Snyder's grotesque display of money could be used for good?

I have nothing to add to this discussion except the fact that I am literally bouncing in my chair at work with joy. I would jump up and down with excitement, but its a quiet office with no other Skins fans! THIS MAKES MY DAY!!!!
Seriously, this is what I have been asking for the whole season -- blockbuster deal with a promise that he is next in line after Gibbs retires. GOOD WORK DANNY!! |

I think that some owners will definitely be pissed at Snyder for this move. |

Wow this is such great news. I was really thinking he would seriously consider a coaching position but am glad I was wrong. We should have a great defense for years to come and hopefully GW will take over as the coach after Gibbs leaves (I think he thought of this and realized that if he waits three more years, we would gladly offer him the job).

Three cheers for consistency!!!
Now let's not try to make too many massive sweeping personnel changes on the offseason. Time to gel baby!

WOW. You had to figure Gibbs and Sysnder would want to lock G-Dub up. You gotta love Synder's willingness to win at any cost, literally. In the early years he thought it was all about spending on players. It took Gibbs to teach him that it was about coaches and the RIGHT players. I always wondered how Synder could be so successful in his business endeavors but struggle so poorly as an owner. He has learned from his mistakes with losing Marvin Lewis. He has finally figured it out. Kudos Dan Synder!
