Unlike in the Zorn years, the guys stay in a hotel during camp rather than going home.

Hmm, I think Zorn implemented the allowing them to go home thing in year 2 of his tenure along with a softer training camp to avoid injuries. I think it's safe to say none of that stuff worked.

Saw a note that Shanahan said AH would practice 2nd string NT on Monday.

Good practice for the 2nd string offensive line.

Why NT? Totally negates AH as a player. This better just be more Shanny trying to humble AH a bit. AH's talents will be negated significantly at NT.

Haslett plans to use AH as a rushing NT during passing situations. Furthermore, it seems like guys on the defensive line are going to be very versatile and move around a lot. I wouldn't read much into this. I believe that once we are deep into training camp, you'll see AH as a DE with the first team. I don't mind seeing AH work for his spot. Also, I think Haslett has big plans for AH on that defensive line.

He has the most to learn at NT. Playing DE in the 3-4 is similar to playing DT in the 4-3. The nose is a whole new animal, gotta get him up to speed there.

What are your thoughts on Shanahan implementing a simular type practice schedule designed to reduce the risk of injury and overwork? Is this IYO a good strategy, or should he be working the players a little harder?

Still stinking the place up...

Duds
QB Donovan McNabb. He still could be adjusting to the offense. He could be bothered by the fact that he really only has one proven receiver. Or he could just be having a bad camp. It’s only 10 days into camp so it’s not time to panic. However, McNabb had another bad day Saturday. He’s waiting too long after the receiver cuts to make the pass, a sign that he perhaps does not yet trust them. Receivers who have broken free on crossing patterns often have to reach back inside to make a catch. His passes have allowed beaten defenders to recover. At what point do you get concerned? If he has a bad preseason, too.

Given his track record, it is too early to worry too much about DMac.

Worrying about the long snapping situation is a different story. If Sundberg can't cut it, we need someone else. I heard the Red Snapper is available.

Apparently DM wasn't a great camp player in Philly either, for whatever reasons

Everyone is learning the new offense. A few players are actually having a very good camp while others are struggling. A new offense should not be that big of a problem for a FQB, but knowing Mc5's history of inacuracy, the trials he's experiencing early in camp are not surprising. Hopefully hell improve as things progress.

Donovan will be ready to go come week 1. I am not to worried about him at this point. He is expieriencing some growing pains in the new offense.

This is a new start to his career and he will get it down.

OK I can understand that, but won't he still have to face being double or triple teamed at NT? I know he shed 35 lbs and probably will be more versatile once the knee is 100%, but that still is a lot of weight to go up against. I hope you are right about this just being a learning experience. I know Haslett has some nice plans for him, just hope it isn't as a full time NT.
