Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
I feel we have a solid team, but man we do need our guys back soon and to stay healthy. We made Flacco start to look like areal QB and not just a game manager. Kerrigan is a beast, and will outshine Orakpo soon. Was hoping to see more of Beck against the Ravens first D. He might do very well against the Ravens 2nd-3rd teamers, but that doesn't really do him any good in terms of QB evaluations for the starting jobs. Rex started slow, but came on strong. Experience does count for a lot.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
We were relatively penalty free in the first two preseason games but there have been too many so far tonight. We need to tighten that up.
Frankly, we're not good enough yet to overcome a lot of penalties. |

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Our receivers look GOOD under year two of McCardell. A team strength. Ditto for the running backs.
I think the QBs will get exposed over the long regular season, but it's hard to overstate just how strong that position has been in the preseason. This is something I expected, but still. Santana Moss is an awesome technician and precision route runner and we all love him...but not beating Terrell Suggs on a drag is a good example of how limited we're going to be with him as a starter.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Agreed. It was probably b/c we were running vanilla defensive plays against vanilla offensive plays during those preseason games. But yeah, we can't give freebies to good teams like the Ravens.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Regardless of who's at QB, the running game should be sooooo much better that it will only help EVERYTHING.
And adding Gaffney (another solid, proven route runner similar to Moss) may prove to be one of the biggest moves of the offseason, besides Hightower. I am EXCITED to see if we start to see that old Broncos running game here!!!

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Now we will see Beck shred the Ravens' 2nd stringers. LOL.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Beck will start the 2nd half. As expected.
Thought Rex started off a bit nonchalant. I think Beck's 34 (or whatever) pass to AA maybe lit a fire under Grossman. He should have been 6 for 6 on that last drive. That pass to Moss in the endzone that was ruled incomplete was perhaps the best pass he's thrown this preseason.

But it takes a bit to get settled against a d like the ravens. See my main thing is that the bootleg works so well with the stretch run. Advantage Beck, in that regard, as he is more mobile.
Rex wins out in everything else.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
And Suggs was holding him too by the way. But yeah, Rexy could have thrown it better.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Flacco starting still? Sounds kinda risky.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Consider that Anquan Boldin, never, ever consider a burner in his career, had no issue whatsoever running right through Brian Orakpo's zone and playing keep away.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Rex wins out for the QB competition mainly because of experience. He started in Chicago, in the goold ole black and blue division, and did get to a SB. Beck has only been a bench warmer thus far. Do you really want a benchwarmer/clipboard holder to try and take the heat that the Gmen and Philly are going to bring almost every down?
