Re: The Haskins Threat
The fact his techniques are so terrible means quick improvement isn't likely, it will take a while for good habits to become instinct.

The Haskins Threat
Quote:
Not as much time as the train of thought that he is improving sd. We might have won the game, but It was in spite of our quarterback play. We won the game because Stafford was out. And the Lions D is worse than ours. Im stopping short of calling him a bust because it is just too early to tell, but he did not trend up today and he couldn’t have had an easier test. I know you are trying. Lol. |

Re: The Haskins Threat
I wouldnt write him off yet...but if he doesnt improve much then I think we should take a qb in the 1'st and not Tua - he's injury prone... If we dont take a qb I think LT in the 1'st is the correct pick for us.. Our OL needs a lot of help.... But he will really depnd oh who is avaialbe and what we do in free agency...

Chase Young is far and away the best player available. Cincy should have the first pick and should take Burrows. Miami plays Cincy later on and if the Dolphins win that opens up the door for us to pick at 2. If Cincy takes Burrows we need to draft Young. If Cincy takes Young we go with the Andrew Thomas. We definitely need to address the o line through our other picks and FA. Tight end, corners are our other areas of need. Honestly if we had a damn GM or HC this would not be such an impossible dream. Guice McLaurin and Harmon are some good young pieces. Haskins will probably be our starter next year no matter what happens the rest of the way. He gets alot of experience, and a full off season, camp, etc as the guy. Pray to every And or any God you do or do not believe in that Bruce Allen is fired and our next staff is capable of coaching him up and filling in the blanks. |

His mechanics are poor, as I've been saying all season, and you can tell when he's either late on throws or has predetermined where he's going with the ball that he tries to make up for it by relying on his arm strength/talent. The selfie pic during the waning moments of the game is one of those things that makes you wonder about his focus and maturity. Sort of like his (paraphrased) "The league has messed up" message after he was drafted later than he felt. |

Re: The Haskins Threat
Its still way too early to make a final decision on Haskins but yesterday his accuracy was terrible. He was missing guys that were all alone which killed drives. Hopefully he can improve.
As for the selfies, with so few paying customers DH was just providing an enhanced customer experience. Haha |

Re: The Haskins Threat
Why is everyone making a big deal about the kid going over to the fans and taking selfies? The game was over and he was excited.

Re: The Haskins Threat
I think people who say the eye test shows Haskins improving are putting vodka in their breakfast orange juice and having quite a few of them. A 47.5 rating against a team that was recently giving up a 125 average over a month should not be passing any eye tests. It wasn't like his poor numbers were the result of a bunch of drops. I realize he isn't in the best situation with a shaky O-line and lacking a tight end as a receiving threat, but as he is playing now even if he started on the 49ers he would be a bottom rated QB.

Re: The Haskins Threat
I said in preseason that I didn't want him playing at all this year because he was out of his depth. The only reason he's playing now is because he was drafted in the 1st round.
He has none of the 3 qualities I look for in a pro QB. Accuracy - Poor Intelligence - Lacking Character - Flawed I don't see him ever being a reliable starter.

Re: The Haskins Threat
How could the team scout Haskins and not see the issues with his mechanics?? I’m waiting to see progress .. missing wide open receivers for td’s is getting old . All I’m saying is that if he is playing like this at the end of season we cannot ignore that position going into next year..

Re: The Haskins Threat
Haskins play yesterday is very concerning. You cant miss wide open TDs multiple times in a game and be a quality QB in this league.
I could care less about the selfie...its not a big deal. Its a huge deal when he commits 2 TO while missing 2 TD. The first miss is a no excuse miss. The other while a much tougher throw, it wasn't close. He has to give his WR a better chance than that.
