Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
For real. Forget who's gonna coach the team, we need Dr. Phil up in this bitch!

Touche. Still find it ridiculous you think that makes him unqualified

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I apologize if SF felt like that was an attack, but drinking in driving is not a joke. Regarding gruden, he and wisenhut are my personal favorites at this point. I just feel like his DUI should be considered when evaluating his candidacy.

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Honestly the more I think about it, the more I would prefer a offensive minded coach. Has there been any rumblings about someone like Pep Hamilton coming in to mentor Rg3?
Edit: Why am I always surprised when I look in a thread and it's never about what the title would indicate?

But I don't think Gruden is a good candidate regardless. Several reasons. Still nothing on offense that's impressive (aside from an improvement over the Shanahans). No HC experience in the NFL, especially in a major market. It looks like a "fixed" hire with the Jay to Jon to Bruce connection. Whisenhunt and Caldwell are better on the offensive side. Williams and Zimmer on the defensive side.

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I don't think his example with a DUI is any better but I wondered if he's part of a fallback plan, asked earlier?

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
He's not. So let me get this straight. You don't like Jay because he hasn't been an HC in a major market and he was arrested once for drunk driving, but you're hoping hiring him must mean a more direct path to Jon, who was also once arrested?

But no, I dot want anyone named Gruden here. My paradigm based on what's available is: Whisenhunt HC and whoever he picks for OC. GWilliams as DC and asst head coach. But I have no idea if Whisenhint would go for it. Next option, replace Whisenhunt with Caldwell. Next, Williams HC. Last, Zimmer HC. I think every one of those guys has earned it far and above Jay Gruden, both on paper and on the field, leaving the potential for alcoholism aside.

Jay Gruden, Mike Zimmer are now free to interview | ProFootballTalk
Article and comments say a ton. I like Zimmer. A lot. The only reason Gruden is getting more attention is the name. Haven't we seen enough of the nepotism curse already? I hope through the interview process BA and/or Dan see Gruden is a bad choice.

Jay Gruden, Bengals Game Plan Deserve Blame for Cincinnati's Early Playoff Exit | Bleacher Report
Giving up on the running game and losing the lead in the 2nd half...sounds all too familiar.

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I think Zimmer and Jay Gruden would both make fine coaches. My bigger concern is the staffs they would put together

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I have wanted Zimmer dating back to our last coaching search. Do you think coaching under Marvin Lewis who is a defense oriented guy holds him back at all?

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I don't know. I think Lewis lets Zimmer do his thing, as opposed to Carolina where most believe Rivera has his hands all over the defense so you wonder how much McDermott really contributes
