there has to be something going on with our current linebackers, particularly washington. his surgery recovery must not be going well

I love the Blades pick excellent MLB, I think he was brought in here to be groomed to take over for London Fletcher at MLB.

blades nfldraftcountdown.com

Strengths:
Has a solid build and great strength...Very instinctive with an excellent feel for the game...Versatile with experience both inside and outside...Reliable tackler...Good ball skills...Is quick and plays faster than he times...Works his way through traffic and makes plays laterally...Was extremely productive...Tough and plays through pain...Hard worker and team leader with great intangibles...Has good bloodlines.

Weaknesses:
Does not have the height you'd prefer...Timed speed is only average at best...Is not a great natural athlete and his range is limited...Sub par in coverage...Doesn't take on blockers well and struggles to disengage...Has some durability concerns.

Notes:
Father, Bennie, was an All-Pro with the Detroit Lions and his uncles, Brian and Al, also played in the NFL...The type who won't blow you away with his measurables but when the game starts he's constantly around the ball and making plays...Will be overlooked to a degree due to his lack of eye-popping physical tools but don't be surprised if he ends up being a steal for someone and has a nice, long career.

I LOVE THIS PICK. This guy reminds me of Zach Thomas. All he does it makes tackles. I guess our FO thinks DL is not an issue.

Sounds like a good tackler/run stuffer....not a bad pick here at all.

I don't. I think he's worth anything. I watched him play at Pitt, he's not impressive if you ask me. Maybe it's his size, who knows...but I think we're reaching on this guy and hoping he'll be good for us. Undersized MLB's don't work out a lot of the time.

Re: The Official 2007 Draft Discussion Thread

yeah blades seems to have some upside as a 6th rounder, honestly i havent been able to find a DE worth drafting thats still on the board, DE got ate up early this draft . . . mason crosby is still on the board, maybe he has accuracy problems but i agree with what was said before . . bring him in and let him compete and see what happens . . . coach gibbs likes to control the ball and not turn it over, win the defensive edge and make a FG late to win it . . we need a good kicker, there cheap but oh so important for a team like ours

Re: The Official 2007 Draft Discussion Thread

Will the Skins use one of the remaining picks on a DE or Guard?

Guards worth considering - Tim Duckworth - Auburn

One other area that maybe the Skns could draft - what about kicker - I saw many have said Mason Crosby - any other descent ones out there?

Crosby is the only one I can think of that is worth drafting.
There are no good DE's left, and I think if we're going to take a guard, take some mammoth and let him sit the bench and learn with Bugel.

Re: The Official 2007 Draft Discussion Thread

So there is no one worth drafting at guard or DL, which means we are happy with what we have. Joe Gibbs pointed out that the Skins will have all of their picks for next year's draft. Does that mean that we just suffer through this season and start building next year?

Ha! We'll end up trading them away for someone we need. IE: Duckett for a 3rd rounder. Oddly enough, we paid a 3rd rounder for a no one while the Patriots used a 4th rounder for one the most talented WR's EVER. How in the hell did that happen? I would have gladly paid a 3rd rounder next year for Moss.
