Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread

And we have a GM who recognized this and cleaned more than a few holes in FA. Amazing. All the new guys minus the K are under 30 if Im not mistaken. Also all 1-2 year contracts. They shine we sign. It is really amazing to watch a build done correctly. Been a while since Beathard and Co treated us to such things. I am certainly not saying we have returned to greatness but if we are going to this is a mighty fine start/opportunity to do so. |

Yeah the really highly touted OT’s will be gone by the second. But the Princley (cant remember his last name) and Jordan Morgans of the world will be there at 36 possibly. Didn’t someone post something on here recently about the success rate of OT’s drafted in the top 10 vs being drafted in the first few rounds in general? It heavily favored the ones drafted later. Anyway I would not be opposed to- at all - grabbing an OT in FA - a veteran who can hold their own like you said. |

Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
The good thing is it is a deep class for Tackles, and we have plenty of draft capital to basically do what we want to get our guy(s).
Also, it's not a popular take, but they could be planning on Wylie holding down that RT spot for another year. |

Wylie needs to be a backup at best but I would prefer he is a backup on another team. We have to be able to find someone better.

I think they'll pick up a veteran T in FA and draft one in Round 2. They may even use some draft capital to move up into Round 1 to get one they are high on. Also, some teams who pick a T in Round 1 may release a veteran league-average T who we could pick up. |

We could also use a little WR help too. Not as high a priority as OT or CB, but still important.

[QUOTE=MTK;1360195]If Chinn gets back to how he played in his rookie and second year, I'd easily take him over Curl.[/QUO
I'm not criticizing Chinn, not everyone we pick up can be an upgrade. Curl is better, far better, and I'm not the only one who thinks that, as outside of many Redskins fans (since yesterday) everyone thinks that. He is a fine tackler, but he can't cover, he never could even in the 2020-2021 seasons. They used him more as a hybrid LB/SS in 2020-2021. I'm sure the coaching staff knows that and will use him appropriately. Last edited by nonniey; 03-13-2024 at 11:58 AM. |

Yes. I like the idea of trying to get Xavier Worthy to take the top off the defenses we face. He is also an outstanding PR/KR which we haven't had in a long, long time.

Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
This is what is bugging me about the apparent lack of FA action at OT, we need 3, even if we do draft one high that still leaves 2, and I have heard some talking heads who you would assume are somewhat in the know talking like Wylie is part of the plan. If it is Wylie and a rookie starting at OT next year our rookie QB could get the crap beating out of him.

Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
So when are the Commanders going to sign my man Devin White? I'd love to have a wild man in our LB group.
(BTW, I'm beginning my quest for the consecutive posts record today. This one makes three.) |
