That last line is classic!
I have personnally been off of The Ade bandwagon ever since he was toasted 4 or 5 times in '03!

Of course, I never really was on it to begin with! Personally I would have preferred to keep "Smootsmack" and have lost "The Ade" to FA!

Smootsmack, please, what is your new handle?

We have set aside a number of usernames for him. PacSmack seems to be the frontrunner.

Ade Jimoh is a total POS. Every time he comes into a game, you can count on the D giving up a long pass. He's an awful CB, I can't belive he's still on the team. And why do people still seem to think that we're still going to draft a WR w/the #9 pick? Our recieving corps is going to be fine. We need to make sure that the D is still awesome by drafting a shutdown CB, if one is still available at #9.

By virtue of the fact that he's still on the team, and YOU think he's worthless and shouldn't be, seems to tell me that you think you know more than Gregg Williams and co, which I highly doubt. Antonio Pierce wasn't a great player before last year, and I remember people letting off steam on here about him too, but we all know how things ended up. Believe it or not, some players can continue to evolve and get better over time given an opportunity and good coaching.

I disagree. He probably is the best "cheap" free agent wideout still on the market. I think we get a 2nd or a 3rd and 5th for him.

Smoot's departure will now open the door for the arrival of "THE ADE" as the starting CB opposite Springroll. THE ADE has been patiently biding his time on the special teams squad - and now his opportunity is here! I'm calling it - today - THE ADE will be large and in-charge this season....

Barrow will be healthy this year and be the MLB we expected him to be last year - Pierce, although a consensus great fill-in last year, will not be missed.

Rod "drop it like it's hot" Gardner will be traded away for a 2nd rounder. We'll grab Mike Williams with the #9, and pick up a DE like Marcus Spears with the second rounder. Not too bad.

I think the offense will be dramatically improved with the new (healthly) o-line. I think Patton will be the 4th best WR on our team, just like he was with the Pats -but I welcome him nonetheless.

I like Ramsey, but he better not screw up this season. He's well beyond the "learning years" - he needs to perform!!

Good Stuff................

Re: How will we survive without Smooty??

Ade's a smart kid (actually got an academic scholarship to Utah State), and he's got the right kind of build and athleticism for Williams' expectations of physical play at the corner spot. With a little more seasoning, he could certainly develop into a solid nickelback. I have serious doubts as to whether he will ever develop into a starting-caliber cornerback, but with Gregg Williams and his defensive staff around, you just never know.

The main reason Ade's stuck around is his special teams play, and his coachability. I suspect Wilds will get a shot at nickelback before Ade, and Wilds probably has more upside. But as long as Ade's showing improvement in practice at corner, and making tackles on special teams, he's got a shot at staying on the roster every year.

Wilds has Mackenzie hair and every time I look at it, I'm like "Argh, I hate Mackenzie."

IMO the Redskins are not going to draft a CB at #9!!! Think about it, Gibbs likes proven vets over unproven rookies, plus why would we pick a CB @#9 only to pay him what we would have paid to Smoot? Atleast with Smoot we knew what we were getting for $10million. With a rookie we REALLY would not know how good he is. IMO the Redskins are either going to take the best WR that is left or trade down.
