Not to mention I don't like him at all, and therefore in my opinion no Jake Locker is not a waste of a pick.

Moss likely won't stay, and if you're correct than I don't see why we can't target another free agent. Pudz is a longshot as I stated, but Barrett Ruud is more likely to go than he is to stay. He was neglected last year by management in a contract extension when they decided to give it to Donald Penn instead. Not to mention he had a terrible year by his standards. I will not be surprised if he's a target for Bruce Allen this off-season.

Okay so that top 15 pick which speaks for itself and can be anywhere from 1-15 could possibly be the 16th or 17th pick? Would you like me to have said top 17 pick?
I disagree that it is a better team. I believe you to be overlooking a few things.

London Fletcher showed signs of diminishing skills last year and I
expect it to continue on this year.

I think you overlook how important both Rogers and Buchanon are to our secondary. The majority of the negative plays go towards Hall/Barnes. There is nobody on our roster that can replace either one.

Whichever center (Rabach/Barnes) plays will be absolute dogshit, even more so than last year due to either age or inexperience. On that note, the same thing applies to Phillip Daniels.

I believe Anthony Bryant to not only not be adequate (2 solo tackles in 6 games all last season) but I have an inkling that he will get injured anyways being so heavy (380 lbs).

I also do not believe Barrett Rudd to be an upgrade over McIntosh, especially considering he is switching systems.

Atogwe is a huge upgrade, but I wouldn't expect him to be a superstar, there must be a reason he was not retained.

Torain/Williams I believe will be worse than last year. Teams will not underestimate them as much and they will have more wear/tear (torain especially).

Moss will not be back, and Davis is a downgrade over Cooley (who we would not get a high second for). Kelly probably won't even make the team much less start.

Quinn I believe to be overrated.

I think that teams will catch onto Grossman/Shannhans system this year, and we will not be able to catch teams by surprise (we started 4-3). Reminds me of what happened with Zorn when he started 6-2 with a bad team and then the next two years were junk once people saw tape.

And yes I believe there to be a significant difference between 17 and a "top 15 pick". "Top 15" talent in my mind are supposed to be "can't miss talents." There are normally not actually 15 of them, its just those "top 15" talents should all be gone by 15. Its not safe at 14/15 that you will get one, so the 17 pick is not something to be overexcited about.

Can you look at our roster and honestly tell me that we have even the slightest chance to win a superbowl?

We have a shot at mediocrity, but we'd have to get very lucky in the off season and probably make some poor personnel moves that would screw us in the long run.

We have no shot to be legit though. Its tough to admit. Fans so close to the team have a tendency to be overly optimistic, but if you take a step back you'll see that from a logistical standpoint, yea our season is over before it began.

I personally want this to be the start of a rebuilding year. I would much more enjoy watching improvement from a young developing core than to watch a bunch of old declining players fight in the hopes of being a .500 team.

Draft:

Round 1 Trade down with NE (17) Mike Pouncey OG Florida
Round 2 (41) Phil Taylor NT Baylor
Round 2 Trade down with NE (60) Andy Dalton QB TCU
Round 3 Trade with Cardinals for McNabb (69) Ryan Williams RB VTech
Round 5 Traded to Cardinals with McNabb
Round 5 Trade for Haynesworth from Bills Edmund Gates WR Abilene Christan
Round 6 D’Aundre Reed, DE Arizona
Round 7 Anthony Sherman, FB UConn
Round 7 Kris Durham WR Georgia

Free Agents (no capp)

Top Tier
Lamarr Woodley LB Pittsburgh
Namdi Asomugha CB Oakland
Sidney Rice WR Vikings
Ryan Harris T Denver
Marc Bulger QB Baltimore
Paul Posluszny ILB Bills

Lower Tier
Steve Smith WR NYG- not sure we would get him but I want to drive the price up

TO- Regardless of if you love him or hate him he shut up and produced last year. If he can stay like that I'd take him here.

Alex Smith QB 49ers- I don't want grossman here and this kid could get his chance here warming the spot for dalton to develop if we don't get Bulger.

Alan Branch DE/ NT Cardinals: He is Young and was a hell of a player at Michigan project player

Joey Porter LB Cardinals- Can he be a big enough distraction on the field to free up Rak? Target if we miss out on Woodley

D’Qwell Jackson LB Cleveland- If we miss out on Paul, this kid has skills.

Resign
Jamall Brown
Santana Moss
Phillip Buchanon

Starting Lineup:

LT: T. Williams
LG : M Pouncey
C: Lichtensteiger
RG: M. Williams/ Hicks/ Montgomery (competition)
RT J.Brown/ R. Harris (Competition)

QB: Bulger or Smith/ Beck (comp) backup Dalton
RB: Torian, R.Williams, K. Williams (Platoon)
FB: M. Sellars * Sherman Taking over later in the year

X: S. Rice or TO backup Gates (Who decides to sign with us)
Y: A.Armstrong
Slot: S.Moss or Steve Smith backup T. Austin (Who decides to Sign with us)
TE: Cooley/ Davis

DE: Carriker
NT: P.Taylor/ Bryant/ A.Branch (competition)
DE: Golston/ Jarmon/ A.Branch (competition)

OLB: Porter or Woodley
ILB: Posluszny or Jackson
ILB: Fletcher
OLB: Rak

CB: Asomugha
CB: Hall
Slot: Buchanon
SS: Landry
FS: OJ

K: Gano
P: Bidwell or Paulescu (comp)
KR: Banks

record:
On paper that is a strong team against a weaker schedule. So I see good things.
Even on the off chance that there is no cap next year, there will be one in the future. It would be financially impossible to sign all those free agents. Besides, I doubt most of them would want to come here anyways. And growing up in NE and being so close to the patriots, yes you are nuts for thinking they would ever give up a second rounder to move from 17 to 10. Also Phil Taylor won't slip to 41.

I dissagree. If a player that NE really wants is there, you don't know what they would do. Plus they still have the 33rd pick in this scenario. As for the Free Agents I listed various targets depending on if we lose out on one vs the other. I don't want us to sign all of them. The Redskins are still a top place to go to because of the area and the fact that they are willing to pay. You seem to overvalueing Phil Taylor.

1. Indentify a franchise QB in this draft.
2. Go get him!

I realize this team has many holes but until we solve the 20 year revolving door at QB everything else is just shuffling deck chairs on the titanic. Shanny is on the down side to 60...he's already in year 2 of his tenure...there is no time to wait another year to find his franchise QB. He needs to find him and start grooming him now.

You are thinking the way you think, not the way they think. They do not overspend their early picks in an attempt to trade up. It is simply against their philosophy for building teams. Their philosophy is the exact opposite. Let other teams trade up to them and turn a penny into gold. I would be highly surprised if they even picked all their high picks this year. I would give 10-1 odds that they trade for future picks next year.

I don't think you have a very good grasp on the salary cap and how free agency works. We might be willing to pay, but so are other people. And I think you are undervaluing the importance of moving to a winning team for free agents. The amount that we would have to pay these guys would be extraordinary. It wouldn't even be financially possible to pick up 3 of them to the contracts that they will demand from us (keep in mind we already signed atogwe and will inevitably extend a few players currently on the roster).

Its not that I overvalue Phil Taylor, its the economics of the situation. There is too large a talent gap between him and the rest of the potential nose tackles. It only takes one team that is desperate enough for a nose tackle to pick him in the late first/early second. It also only takes one team (desperate or not) to fall in love with his potential. Odds are he will be gone by the first. And its all but certain he will be gone by the 41st pick.

There are LOTS of folks who cover the NFL who are absolutely convinced that Mike Shanahan is greasing the skids for Kyle Shanahan to take over the Redskins down the line a couple of years.

That does not make them correct - - but lots of folks see things going down that way...

If they turn the Skins around, do you have a problem with that?

Agreed right here, but London Fletcher > H.B. Blades/Perry Riley/Rockey MacIntosh

Rogers will be 30 years old and will want Atogwe money. He's gone, there's no chance he's back. He's been with this team and has no desire to change the culture into a winning one, and if you don't believe that just go watch how mediocre he has been the past two years. Not to mention we need more playmakers, nevermind this whole I should be accepted for not catching anything thrown my way.
Also, Buchanon is a plug.. Don't try that lol. Barnes is the best option we have, local Maryland boy who wants to be given a chance. I like his upside.

Quote:

Rabach is the definition of dogshit, but there are no better options. Saying Barnes couldn't play because of inexperience is just incorrect. Mack on Cleveland jumped right into that line like a pro bowler, you really do never know. As for Daniels, yeah he's old and wouldn't play anymore than 1 down or so anyways similar to last year. Obviously this position would be part of a rotation.

Quote:

Did you not see the push he gave that defense when Ma'ake went down? Kemo was the worst excuse for a NT I've ever seen. He's better than nothing. Also worth noting that I chose to draft Ellis from Hampton, who is widely viewed as one of the best NTs in the draft. A weak draft for NTs.. but one of the best none the less.

Quote:
I also do not believe Barrett Rudd to be an upgrade over McIntosh, especially considering he is switching systems.

Atogwe is a huge upgrade, but I wouldn't expect him to be a superstar, there must be a reason he was not retained.
Barrett Ruud is in a league of his own compared to Rocky.. Be realistic about that one. Rocky wants to get out of this football team that he's seen struggle for so long, Ruud would be looking for a fresh start and would instantly bring a legitimate leader to our defense alongside Fletch.

Interesting you choose to say Atogwe can't be good since he was left go. One of my good friends is the biggest rams fan you'll ever find (His basement walls are covered in Rams paintings) and he was telling me how ridiculous it was that they let him go, not only because he was a terrific leader. But had just turned 30 years old. You want to re-sign Carlos? Well here's his replacement, only obviously not at Corner. The biggest difference is that he can actually make plays and add a whole new dimension to Landry's game.

Quote:
Torain/Williams I believe will be worse than last year. Teams will not underestimate them as much and they will have more wear/tear (torain especially).

Moss will not be back, and Davis is a downgrade over Cooley (who we would not get a high second for). Kelly probably won't even make the team much less start.
Oh please, If this was the case the Buccaneers wouldn't have let Torain run all over them... They were in a playoff push playing the most important game of the season.
Davis is a downgrade, but Cooley has done enough. Time to get younger and give Davis an opportunity.
Kelly probably won't make the team? No, but will he be given a chance? Yes. Was he one of the most dominant WRs in Sooners history? Yep, he has talent. And he deserves one more chance. Are you suggesting we get Roydell Williams back so he can help us "Win"?

Quote:

Yep you're right, history absolutely will repeat itself under no circumstances. Because Zorn was unsuccessful in creating a winner, Shanahan will too, thus making our team go 2-14... Oh wait..........

*I apologize for this cluster**** of a post, I just got home and yeah lol

Well Rogers' problem really is that he screwed himself financially. Or he let others screw him. He's only recently come out of near bankruptcy thanks to bad business decisions.
