Re: 3 Choices for Redskins 10th pick
I'll play a long.....
#1- There are too many teams ahead of us who need a QB also (franchise QB that is) so most likely Locker (if labled the best QB and #1 of this yrs draft) will be gone by our pick at #10. #2- We don't need a RB. I still can't figure out why people still have their heads wrapped around this idea? #3- Although we do need a bonified #1 WR, we need other spots more drastically. Such as a NT that can collapse the pocket (if the team doesn't see Bryant as that), another DE/LB to compliment Orakpo for the rush (and get rid of Carter), or any position on the OL (preferably Center and cut Rabach). I hope we can fix the WR spot in FA either before the draft or after. Why is it always the skill positions people love to see the Skins pick yet the OL and DL stays mediocre and the skilled players can't move the ball? |

- He threw for 3593 yds in 2009, 3186 in 2010. - His YPA was 8.07 in 2009, 6.71 in 2010. - His TD/INT ratio was 24/9 in 2009, 16/9 in 2010. - His last 5 regular season games in 2010 he threw for over 200 only once (208). His TD/INT ratio was 4/4. I know he threw for a bunch against Iowa in their bowl game, but he was also 1/2 TD/INT. I haven't seen the guy play, am I missing something (numbers sure don't show it)? The numbers above are certainly not Mizzou-like QB numbers. By contrast, Chase Daniel as a Junior threw for 4306, 7.65 YPA and 33/11. Chase is about 5' 10" and likely a career backup in the NFL (sorry SS, I'm rooting for the guy too). Chase was a UDFA. Why would any team even consider Gabbert at #10 overall?

The Madden Football video game syndrome. The game is won and lost in the trenches. Always have been, always will be.

But that does not solve the teams OL whoa's. Nor did the DL look all that impressive. Which simply proves we need to bolster those spots to create holes for the RB's and block for the QB and on the defensive side we need DL who can either collapse a pocket and or rush from the outside. Orakpo did well but he needs similar quality on the other side to keep teams from doubling him up and or a NT who can collapse a pocket. I just don't get the media jumping on the "they need a QB (yes, but they won't start over Grossman, he knows the system too well and has shown it), WR (yes, but we've seen what happens when the QB can't get the ball too them due to a rush), and RB (no, Shanahan has always found gems late in the draft and we have 5-6 RB's now on the roster with the same skill set, we need a bulldozer type for short yrdage). |

Re: 3 Choices for Redskins 10th pick
Of those three off-base candidates, I'd have to choose Ingram.
With Moss, Armstrong, Banks, Kelly, Austin...along with the two TEs, we're fine with WRs. McNabb and Grossman put up a ton of passing yards. Locker...just NO.

Just like last years draft when everyone was saying the Rams should not draft a QB until they build a team and an o-line. Bradford looked ok to me. |

Re: 3 Choices for Redskins 10th pick
To those who say absolutely not with choosing a qb at 10- I don't think you can be so close minded with your options. I honestly don't know anything about qb talent because college is so diiferent from the NFL in terms of what the qb experiences, so it's hard to predict how they would handle things on the NFL level. But that doesn't mean that u should overlook and totally ignore that position in the draft, especially if there's a need there. The way u begin to close ground with someone that is among the best and levels above you is: to use them as a role model of sorts and do the same things that made them successful. You only have to look at this past weekend's championship teams to see that they weren't scared when it came to deciding whether or not a qb was worth a high pick even if it meant getting the cart before the horse.

Re: 3 Choices for Redskins 10th pick
Well he already gave up a 2nd rounder for a slightly washed up QB that didn't fit his system. Let's hope that same philosophy changes.

Re: 3 Choices for Redskins 10th pick
Yeah but he did draft 3 OL in his first draft. I'll bet he takes at least 2 OL this year too. That was never gonna happen with Vinny.

Re: 3 Choices for Redskins 10th pick
They dramatically upgraded their line. They got rid of Richie Incognito and Alex Barron. Addition by subtraction.

As I said, he has a good track record IN THE DRAFT with drafting linemen. I hope for that to continue.
