I agree on bringing him back as long as it is for a reasonable contract. I love what he has done in the past, but we need to start running this franchise from a more forward thinking perspective. Teams like the Patriots excel at this, they always seem to know when it is time to get rid of a player, where as we always jump on a player at the end of there peak effectiveness.

He is a quality receiver, but I think he'd be better utilized somewhere else. I think it's borderline disrespectful to bench him here because of what he's done. It's sort of the same way I feel about Portis. If someone is going to turn these guys into part time players, I don't think it should be us because those two (more Portis) were main reasons why this team was any good for a decent period of time.

At this point, they're both declining (Portis might be done) and I don't think they should be kept around. I agree that Moss can still be productive, but I don't think it makes much sense to keep pinning our hopes to his performance.

One argument I do agree with, however, is that with all the other holes to fill, it may be wise to keep him.

My question would be, at this point, how long of a deal would you give him?

Re: Redskins-Cowboys II Game Tape Reviews and General Grossmania

After analyzing Moss all season (and all last season, and the year before that), I'm not sure there is a right or wrong move with him. He played the role of our offense pace-settter this year, rarely going vertical off the snap. When he played well, the passing offense really played quite well.

Moss, if nothing else, is a very inconsistent player. He's not going to go all out on all passing route calls. Not sure if anyone ever does. He showed great effort and ability in blocking for our runners this year. And he does seem to want to enjoy team success here above all.

Thanks to Armstrong's emergence, he was our no. 2 receiver this year (schematically, not in terms of targets). And he was just as inconsistent as he was as a no. 1. I think he fits this role fine, but his roster spot is certainly a place where we could aim to get younger/better.

If nothing else...at least we won a trade for once.

Yea GTripp great break down of the Redskins-Cowboys game. Do you write for a newspaper or magazine? Just wondering cause this seems like it would take sometime to break down game tape and then write a colum on the game. I hope you are getting paid to do this, if not you really are a DIEHARD REDSKINS FAN.

On bringing back Moss I say if we can get a deal done that works for both the Redskins and Moss then he needs to be resigned. Moss can only get better in this offense as well as AA. I do not thank we should pick a WR in the 1st round because you can get a nice WR in the later rounds. We need our 1st and 2nd rd pick to have a imediate impact. If we take a QB with the 1st pick I don't see him making a impact right away.

Yeah, I agree that if we can make a decent deal with Santana that doesn't handcuff the team, then do it. As for Portis, I'm a fan of his and would love to see him stick around, again, at a reduced rate. His blocking alone is worth his reduced salary. Also, I wonder if he is the type of player that will teach his craft to the younger players. Can Portis teach Williams, Torain and James Davis how to block and recognize blitzes?

When it comes to Rex Grossman, I think it would be wise to sign him to perhaps a 2 year extension and see who falls to us in the draft qb wise. I feel we may be best served to trade down, add picks and wait until next year to find a qb. IMO Andrew Luck is the only franchise qb in this draft and if we can't get him, build our interior offensive line, find another rush lb and a damn free safety although I would like to see what Kevin Barnes can do back there. I think he has the measurables to make it, but does he have the instincts?

Moss should be a short-term signing of two years at the very most. He's can make an offense go, but he does have lapses at critical moments, such as fumbling in the Rams game, giving up on a play which then resulted in a Todd Collins interception, or dropping the probable game-winner in the Cowboys game.
