Re: Merriman goes to IR
Carter has been playing DE quite a bit the last 2 weeks since Alexander took over at OLB, and since we started mixing in more 4-3 looks.

Been noticing 4-3 looks more myself recently.

Re: Merriman goes to IR
At this point, do people still wish we selected Merriman over Rogers because it looks like Merriman has become a broken shell of what he was just a couple of years ago

Thats key. I wouldnt want him here. Injuries, Steriods and to be associated with Tila Tequila says to me stay the eff away from this nut case. 26 is young, but just getting healthy doesnt do it for me. He needs to grow leaps and bounds from a maturity standpoint.

Re: Merriman goes to IR
This is what he had to say recently and yes, I would give him a chance at only 26. A change of scenery could do wonders, just look at LT who everyone thought was washed out.
# Merriman: "I'm ready for the next chapter in my career and I am excited about the opportunity to continue my journey with a new team.” # Shawne Merriman: "I'm approaching this as an opportunity to grow as a player and to bring my leadership, talents to a new organization."

Re: Merriman goes to IR
He won't look good here because we don't have a nose tackle here.

Re: Merriman goes to IR
How would you explain our linebackers both looking good and actually being statistically productive even though, as you correctly point out, we've now struggled at the nose tackle position in four of five games?

Carter has always been a tough guy to block. Too quick for tackles, too strong for tight ends. Valuable player as long as he still has his pass rushing skills, but he's at the age where pass rushers decline. He's a below average player if you sap away his speed rushing ability.

Re: Merriman goes to IR
Whatever team Merriman goes to next, will sign him for cheap. He has a LOT to prove, especially given his steroids past. Given all of this and his ties to the area, I wouldn't mind seeing him here under those conditions. As people say, a change of scenery can help a player out and I wouldn't mind having a player with 3-4 experience.
