Buffalo got to see all the tape on Orakpo at Texas, and STILL took Aaron Maybin (likely, though, that was a marketing-driven move instead of a football driven-move). And people are going to blame the coaching/quarterback situation for that team's struggles.
I think Ralph Wilson had such an astounding record of drafting or signing Texas busts that he simply decided he wasn't going to grab another Longhorn for the rest of his life.

See:
Mike Williams
Derrick Dockery
Jason Peters
etc

They made a change that should have improved it (ump in backfield) and it worsened their performance.

He should NOT have been there for us...we were incredibly lucky.

I wonder if Paul Posluszny had some say in that draft pick...fellow "Linebacker University" alumni.

^This^. How many sacks would D. Ware, Suggs, J. Allen, Mario Williams, and countless others have if they weren't held all the time? One thing I've noticed that Rak is starting to do is too much whining to the refs. He has to learn how to use his arms to keep the o-lineman from easily grabbing him. Rak just runs right into their bodies most times. Elite pass rushers don't whine or look for bailouts, they just get better to get it done.

Maybe I'm taking crazy pills but I haven't seen him whine one time...

Well I've been to both home games this year and I've seen him. Even B-Mitch said he would like to see Rak "worry less about missed calls and learn how to not be held" during one of the Post Game shows. He's young so he will be fine. It's all a learning experience for him. Oh yeah, don't take crazy pills.

Yeah because B_Mitch knows so much about not being held. Everything he says should be taken with a grain of salt. He just has that little part of him that likes to hate.

Orakpo doesn't complain enough...it is everyone else making a deal out of it.

Re: On Brian Orakpo and holding

When you beat your man around the corner and he clotheslines you in a last ditch desperation effort, I'm really not sure how Rak is supposed to "fight through". And I'm not sure why some view drawing all the holding calls as a negative.

Not everyone is getting the calls like Rak. He's drawn 5 holding calls, more than the top sack guys Matthews and Phillips.

Was going to point that out. Seems pretty humble to me...

It's three elite passrushers that he can watch and learn from... D-Ware, T. Suggs, and Freeney. When these guys get around their man, they do this low lean underneath the tackle's outside shoulder. When Rak beats his man, he is rushing around the end standing too high. That's how he winds up getting clothslined. Once he learns to hit the corner LEANING LOW, then he too will become an elite passrusher.
