Didn't he leave because the Giants offered him $300,000 more in the first year than the Skins did. That off season that he and Smoot left I was very bitter.

Same here. Lavar, I didn't mind going to NJ, but I had always wished we kept Pierce.

I always thought Pierce thought he was a much better MLB than he was. I never really liked the guy. Once he came up as a FA, I didn't think he deserved anywhere near the contract he got.
He was a very good player to me, never great, and there was just a little bit too much bark from that guy. In any case, he did have a nice career and got a ring, so congrats to him. I do feel bad that the neck issue is what's causing his career to be cut short, that and the apparent lack of interest in him. |
