Re: Competition Committee proposals: end play when ball carrier's helmet comes off & sudden death overtime
I think it would be difficult to spot the ball if the dude's helmet falls off just before he is down.

No problem with the helmet rule.
Leave OT alone. As I've said before, if you didn't play well enough to win in regulation, you don't have a damn thing to whine about.

Killing plays when ball carrier loses helmet? Are you kidding me? That sounds retarded. If a player wants to get extra yardage let him.
Oh no, wait, you really didn't score a touchdown because your helmet was off.

I think in theory it is right, but the first time a play is stopped when the ball is in the air to a wide open receiver in the end zone and he catches it.

Here's another hypothetical:
Adrian Peterson rams helmets with a random FS, and he fumbles the football AND loses his helmet at the same time. What's a ref to do? |

Re: Competition Committee proposals: end play when ball carrier's helmet comes off & sudden death overtime
Sorry, I did not read the rule, I did not see 'ball carrier' part. I thought they were saying anyone on the field loses his helmet.
But SirClintonPortis came up with one of several possible scenarios that could make this rule difficult. The first time it is applied on a game winning/changing play like a 4th and goal there will be controversy. |
