when you ditch good players (stroud) and draft idiots high (jones) it can affect your team a bit especially if you're not pulling in a lot of outside FAs.

they also lost tom coughlin, who seems to have moved on quite well.

Because if Crabtree is gone before eight, there's no good receivers left.

You could take Maclin, but then you end up with a punt returner/non-receiver who can't run any routes, and the Jags have been loaded with that kind of talent forever.

Luckily for the Jags, that's just the kind of player the Raiders love, so they might be able to land Crabtree anyhow.

He could be a steal for somebody at this point, that is if he'll be able to play this year.
Dude, he's a disaster. This isn't a one time thing. He's had multiple issues with drugs.

I mean under Del Rio they seemed headed in a good direction. Then they just fell flat on their faces. It's like whoever was in charge of personell got canned and whoever took over sucked.

he' should've been released a long time ago, the kid can't stay off the grass. He's probably going to Oakland. That's the only team dumb enough to take him.

Garrard had a really, really good year in 2007, which we all knew wasn't going to repeat itself thanks to his career to that point. So that was a major source of decline, and then their OL just got really injured, and there's nothing they can do about that.

Honestly, their offense needs a part or two, and they can get the WRs in FA. The pieces of what they started back in 2007 are all still there. What's more trobling with the Jags is the defensive decline. Getting what you could for Stroud while he was at his peak seemed like a nice little move at the time, but their LBs collectively had a really bad year, and that secondary is pretty trashy.

None of this is unlike the 2006 Redskins, actually.

The guy is the epitome of laziness, great potential (height, hands and deceptive speed)coming out of the draft but never shown any heart or willingness to apply himself. He cringes from contact and suffers from the 'dropsies'. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

So why are we discussing him then?

Poor wording on my part.

I know, he got caught doin some blow in a car & got suspended. I'm not totally surprised they cut him, just surprised they cut him now. I thought they would at least see how things played out w/the nfl first. Given that he was a 1st round pick & just starting to show improvement.

Re: Jaguars Release Matt Jones

Two points:

1. How did the Jags fall so quickly? Maybe the fact that their assistant head coach is known around the league as "Meathead" might have something to do with that.

2. Where did Matt Jones go to school? What NFL owner went to that same school? Connect the dots...

We shouldn't even be discussing Jones. He's lazy, and he's a Pot Head. Bad Combo

As opposed to all the ambitious, go-getter potheads out there

Re: Jaguars Release Matt Jones

Jones was one of those combine guys who shot up draft boards based more on potential than anything else. Although he didn't even play WR in college, his unusual speed and leaping ability caused some to speculate that he might be worth a gamble with a third round pick. This cacophony grew to a fever pitch, and he ended up being taken, shockingly I thought at the time, in the first round.

All that being said, he has shown some promise, but not enough to justify the headache that comes with his issues.
