I think that ole Collins will be lost without his longtime guru Al Saunders. I bet he is held onto but is let go next year to retire with the Rams.

I thought the same thing. All of a sudden Collins doesen't look so comfortable. I guess when you have been playing in one system almost your whole career it's really tough to switch.

Secondly, he locks on to his WRs big time. That's to be expected from a young QB but there's no way he's ready to start or even be the #2. Collins to me appeared to be very hesitant in his decision making, but I think once he gets up to speed in the offense he's going to be fine.
No kidding -- big time. He would have thrown some picks, if his primary target wasn't open all night. There was at least one play where he threw to his primary target (without checking others), and it was almost intercepted.

I think he looked good, but this kid would get eaten alive against a real NFL defense. There's no way I'd make him our #2. Collins proved last year that he can manage a game, against a real defense, and during games that really matter. Colt hasn't done squat yet.

I agree completely. Plus, what you want from your #2 is someone who can come in and MANAGE a game, and we already know Collins is able to do that perfectly. If Colt played like he did last night against starters, as everyone's already said, he would have thrown at least one guaranteed interception. That's not what you want from your #2; Collins is still the smart choice.

Got to cut Collins some slack for last night. The OL didn't give him the protection to see what he could do. I'm not ready to bump Brennan up
the depth chart. Will wait till he plays against a better D. Think the kid
has a future with Zorn.

Couldn't agree more riggins44...

I think Brennan will only continue to prosper with Zorn by his side. And while he looked calm and collected last night, he made rookie mistakes, and will continue to do so until he gets his feet further wet and learns more.

Colt has to be the starter because he is such a hottie, omg, and Campbell hurt his knee and he's not back to 100%. I mean this is just the preseason but bench Campbell because he throws interceptions and Colt did not in his first preseason game ever. Colt is going to be a Hll of Famer like Gibbs and Green and Monk. GO COLT

only joking

But he did'nt have the starting WR's or O-Line so it all evens out.
Colt + Starting WR's and O-line = The same result against their starting Defense

I still would wait before bumping him up to # 2.

Re: OT: Omg! Wtf! Lol! Colt Brennan Is So 1337

I can't believe I'm saying this, but a PFT post sums up my thoughts:

‘SKINS FANS GO GA-GA OVER BRENNANPosted by Mike Florio on August 4, 2008, 11:09 a.m.

We’ve gotten plenty of e-mails from Redskins fans who believe that, on the weekend that the latest two D.C. Hall of Famers were enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Redskins might have found their next potential bronze bust for Canton.

Rookie quarterback Colt Brennan, a Heisman hype recipient who slid to round six after getting picked apart in the Sugar Bowl, gaining lots of weight in the offseason, and needing hip surgery before the draft, completed nine of ten passes and threw for two touchdowns during the second half of the annual Hall of Fame game, leading the Redskins to a 30-16 win over the Colts.

But, folks, it was garbage time in a meaningless game that featured little or no actual game planning or other strategery. Though we’re not saying Brennan won’t someday become a stud quarterback (as we’ve learned over the past several years, certain sixth-round quarterbacks can do fairly good things), Brennan’s good run in glorified practice against a bunch of defensive players who’ll likely be looking for work a month from now isn’t cause for celebration.

Instead, Redskins fans should be far happier that starter Jason Campbell completed five of five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown in two shots at running the new offense that coach Jim Zorn has brought to town.

I will say this for Colt Brennan, he was able to acomplish what was called upon him to do. Granted the level of competition at the point he entered the game was such it's difficult to make a true determination of his value, he did make plays, and he also looked far better than Jordan Palmer did this time last year. He's a project that's going to take time to develop into an NFL type QB, and right now, time is something he has plenty of.

Yo, Mattyk72...I don't think Jim Zorn is thinking that Brennan is locking in on his WR's big time. Zorn said after the game:

"More than his throws, what I was pleased with is how he was looking to the right guy when he was backpedaling," said Zorn, a former NFL quarterback. "He knew the plays, knew the routes. He should feel very good about his performance."

Regarding the WR's being wide open, it was that way the whole game. I do think Brennan threaded a couple of passes in there, against pretty tight coverage.

I've seen Brennan play live a dozen times or so and, at least I think, it is difficult to conclude that he locks on receivers. I do think he goes through progressions pretty quickly. He just doesn't turn his head to it is obvious to everybody. That's my view anyway.

I respect your view, too.

I just want to score points and win. Hail to the Redskins!

Im not saying that it's gonna happen ...but if brennan preforms better than campbell...but campbell is still playing well, who would get the starting position? I doubt brennan would be given a shot unless campbell goes down.

There's no reason to heap too much praise or too much negativity on him right now. It's just game 1 of the preseason!!

There's alot we don't know right now. There are a couple things we do know.

In one game he looks ALOT better than Jordan Palmer. Can we all agree on that?

He played very well last night.

I see Campbell and Colt, and I instantly think this is probably the best starter/back-up QB combo since Montana/Young

Seriously though. The highlight should definitely be Jason Campbell's performance. It was a brief performance but he really really looked good. Still, as LTF points out, don't sell short what Colt did out there (regardless of the talent surrounding him).

Most importantly, in both cases, they are getting their first full live game action since having major surgery and neither showed any side effects from it. That's the real positive.
