Re: How did we look vs. the Ravens?
Blades will not be starting week one if Marcus Washington is ready to go, and if Washington cannot play week one I think it will come down to Blades, Godfrey, and Campbell to get the start.

Copy and paste this statement in just about every pre-season "Why isn't he....?" thread/topic.

Re: How did we look vs. the Ravens?
I think the D looks good--though there isn't much QB pressure from the front and the starting D hasn't got a TO yet. Still, they look much improved and seem to have their swagger back.
The O is a complete question mark--we've scored VERY few points with any O this year. Yes, I know it's preseason and I know we've played some good Ds, but this is not a proven bunch that can just turn it on in the regular season. Sure, key people are out, but then that means we have no depth, and you need depth to be any good. So I'm concerned. A slow start would be very tough this year, especially after last year's disaster. Hope it will click soon, but I will not believe it until I see it on the field.

Re: How did we look vs. the Ravens?
Does anyone else here think it was unwise to blow that sweet trick play where Yoder and Sellers did a formation shift to draw the Ravens offsides on 4th and 1 on a pre-season Game? Save that one for December baby. Yoder played it perfectly. He made it look like he was false-starting the whole way. Beautiful.

Re: How did we look vs. the Ravens?
I think we tend to over analyze pre-season. If every little aspect of our offense isn't clicking then it's reason for concern? At any given time during the preseason, we've had three starters missing from the lineup.
We can get by Miami. Have you guys seen Trent Green's last game? We're going to throw some nasty stuff at that dude. He seems a step slow in decision making. I will say, however, that the running game was anemic last night. We didn't create any lanes for Betts last night, and when he had daylight to run it seemed he was "dancing" around too much. I have to watch the game on TV to really get a better idea of what was going on. I do think Heyer has improved over the course of pre-season, and will be good for depth. As for Todd Collins, he could have very well played himself into the second slot, but let me say this, if we're down to him or Brunell we're done for the season. We need Jason Campbell big time! The defense is looking good. I can't say enough good things about Laron Landry. He's good on teams and plays like a linebacker when close to the line of scrimage. I think GW is going to turn this kid loose in regular season. I could see him getting like 4 or 5 sacks this year. It's going to be hard to cut some of the young linebackers we have on the roster. I'm starting to see why the LeMar Marshall release happened so early. They wanted to get a good look at the young talent without commiting valuble playing time to Marshall, whom they were going to release anyway. Sartz, Blades, Trucker,...I like 'em all! Their quick and hungry. |

I think everyone is excited to see what Landry brings to Greg Williams' scheme. Two safeties of this caliber give GW a lot of flexibility with his plays (more blitzing). It looks like we really tweaked the roster in the right places, I see a top 5 defense again this year.
