Actually, the collective bargaining agreement for this year calls for a six year maximum on new contracts. His SB reflects that.

i was under the impression that the maximum of 6 years was for the amount of years you could spread out signing bonus money, not for limiting player contract durations...

His situation sure improved quickly, in a very short span he went from not even having an agent to having one and then quickly signing a deal. Very nice! I'm sure the staff will be very pleased to have him in on time.

I was never worried about Sean Taylor. I knew he would get everything straight. Not so much because I know much about Taylor, but more because Joe Gibbs was on the job.

I could care less about what the contract looks like. The important thing is is that he is signed and he'll be in camp on time.

Looks like we will be able to see him come Aug 9. Which is 7 days away!

aug 9th is a bit more than 7 days from now (13 days) but i know what you're saying.
I guess the guys who polled first week or on time are both right on this one. One day isn't even worth mentioning (and i know its not really training camp, but its gibbs, so it really is).

hmm.. i'll be interested to see if its 6 or 7 years, seem like no one is really sure... either way, from no agent to radified contract in under a week. Talk about grace under pressure. Mato and Moorad should be getting all kinds of good PR for how well they've handled things and how well things went down.

Solid words of advice from Arrington:

"Let him be a rookie, let him learn, give him the opportunity to be a rookie," Arrington said. "And if he exceeds that, then whoop-de-do, that's a great thing, but if he doesn't, then he's a rookie and he has to learn what it is to be a professional in this league and that takes a while. . . .

"His athleticism, there's no doubt about it, so it's just a matter of figuring mentally if he's going to catch up sooner or later. It's only a matter of time. He'll be fine."

That's right - sorry for the confusion. In any case, why would a rookie want a contract longer than that? If he lives up to the hype, it'll get renegotiated - if not, he'll get cut anyway.

Meanwhile, in Cleveland...

You're right. I guess I'm just a little too excited.

Absolutely. These guys just became my favorite agents.
