Re: Are we the Classiest Team in the NFL?
I only really care about class in so much as it relates to winning. I'll take a pack of thugs and Lombardi trophy over some 5-11 choirboys. So while I of course support bringing in character guys, I think that should be a strategic decision and nothing more.
But I think you need balance. I think if you look at the teams that have been most succesful recently - the Patriots, Steelers, and even the Colts to an extent - they have all had some basketcases but a solid enough group of leaders to keep them in check. You don't want anyone bringing shame to your franchise, but you need some wild guys to fire everyone up. I think we negotiated that perfectly in the 80`s. |

Re: Are we the Classiest Team in the NFL?
There is no such thing as the classiest team in the NFL, only teams who have players that are lucky enogh not to get caught when they mess up.

Re: Are we the Classiest Team in the NFL?
we definitely don't have that perception around the league. i think Taylor is still considered a thug amongst fans around the league. he was facing a DUI and 26 years. Its not like it was some small stuff. He was found innocent so i am not going to hold any of that against him. If you think about him be accused of spitting on Rudy Johnson and the Tampa game where he definitely spit, you have to think of him of an unclassy player. I think taylor has an unclassy name around the league, and a big one at that. I think the past season with no problems have helped that and he is becoming a veteran but any fan of another team still thinks of him as a classless player.
Furthermore, class is not just not getting arrested. Many teams don't have criminals on their team. Class also has to do with the organizational structure of a team, from the top down. I think that the league does not feel our organization handles it players with class. From Archuleta blabbing to espn last year and the lavar fiasco last offseason, I think we are considered an un-classy team. I definitely don't think when people think of the skins they think classy, mostly due to the perception of the way we treat our players. |

Re: Are we the Classiest Team in the NFL?
As far as a fan base, I think we are one of the classier organizations. I would say we are in the top 5. Obviously the Raiders, Eagles, Cowboys are near the bottom

Re: Are we the Classiest Team in the NFL?
Why of course we are! Now all we need is ol about 11 or 12 wins to go with all the CLASS! Now that will be class, FIRST IN CLASS!

Rumor has it that Pacman Jones was involved in a shooting outside of another strip club this morning around 2:00am. I could not find a link so I did not start a new thread but I'm sure we will hear more as the story developes.

Re: Are we the Classiest Team in the NFL?
I'm sorry but we are definitely not the classiest team in the league in any sense. I'm not busting on our organization because I do think we should all be proud of the team, but to me there is no indication that we are any classier than most of the other teams.
Sean Taylor has had 2 different spitting accusations (at least one was confirmed) against him. He's also had plenty of run ins with the law. Portis had his stupid ass comments about Vick. We also had the leak problems last year and coaches who wouldn't talk to players or other coaches. Really classy teams don't have these kinds of problems. Our fans can be just as low class as anyone. I go to about 5 homes games every season and I hear plenty of stuff that make me glad my 10 year sister is back at home. I also see fights at just about every game; usually they're between Skins fans and people rooting for the away team, but that's not always the case. And although I disagree with this I'm sure plenty of people would argue that the team's name is far from classy.

Re: Are we the Classiest Team in the NFL?
I think a lot more goes into being 'classy' than just keeping players out of the legal system.
