Re: Does anyone consider Irving Fryar a Redskin
No. He only played the 1999-2000 season with us at the very end of his long career.
Being he was drafted by the Pats in around 84 or so and played I think till 92 with them, that would have been his longest tenure with any team. He should be a retired Pat.

Re: Does anyone consider Irving Fryar a Redskin
No way is Fryar a Redskin. He played for way to many teams and really didn’t do crap while he was here.
On another note there is no way is Timmy Smith not a Redskins. Not only did he help us win a S.B he went off setting SB rushing records in the process. It’s sad he never really played much after. But he sure picked one hell of a day for his shooting star go bye.

OK, OK... I get the point... This is not something that should be posted for a Redskin signing... but that is why I made the thread title as I did.

Re: Does anyone consider Irving Fryar a Redskin
Does anyone seriously consider Vince Lombardi a Packer coach? He coached the Redskins for a season. They don't even show him with the Packers in the Hall of Fame. It's just Redskins' pictures and stories.
So of course, Fryar is a Redskin. His stats are Redskin property. |

He retired for a year. Then returned to coach the SKINS for only ONE year, passed away shortly after. He is a HUGE part of the packs history! Yes Fryar WAS a SKIN from 1999-2000 of a 17 year career, 2 seasons and played 30 games, at the end of his career and his stats were OK at best. Yes, his stats will go down in SKIN history books, but he's a 2 season SKIN that will be remembered, more for just finishing his career here. Not doing much of anything.

Re: Does anyone consider Irving Fryar a Redskin
Vince I'm sure had forgotten his time with the Packers by early in his first preseason with the Redskins. No one serious about football still attaches Lombardi to the Green Bay Packers.
I mean, a team from a small working class town in Wisconsin - named after meat packers? That, compared to team named after the proud first Americans, playing in our nation's capital? If Vince had run into Bart Starr in the street, he would have smiled, and shook his hand, I am sure. But then he would have turned away and rolled his eyes, and thought, "What an embarassment this so called "Starr quarterback" is. Here I am, coach of the Washington Redskins, and he comes up to me, like I am supposed to be someone who cares who he is." Playing in snowy Wisconsin must have seemed like a dream at that point. Vince was now coaching the Redskins. Yes, he had won the first two Super Bowls, but they weren't even called Super Bowls then. He led the Redskins to their first winning season in a long time, surely his most proud accomplishment. |

Humor seems to be lost on a lot of people here, eh Oakland?
Fryar is more so a Redskin than Andre Reed but less so than Henry Ellard.

I am sure there should be no attempt to be light about subjects like this Fryar question. This is deadly serious stuff. If I was irreverent about this grave and vital question, then I think an apology on my part is due. |
