Re: Redskins sign Novak
We all like Nick--local guy and all at UMD. But kicker is the most unforgiving job on a team. You can go from hero to goat in seconds. Good luck, Nick!

Re: Redskins sign Novak
I have a feeling this is going to be addressed with a more permanent solution in the offseason. Too bad all of the top tier kickers went FA this past season...

Re: Redskins sign Novak
Wasn't Novak kicking for Arizona when Antonio Brown had his touchdown return? (from the 15) More short kickoffs--yeah!

Re: Redskins sign Novak
This just isn't good. Liked what Novak did last season filling in, but if he's the guy the rest of THIS season, with as tight as this division is going to be and what every other team in the divison has for a kicker, just got a bad feeling about this season now. If Nick is a good, consistant kicker in the NFL, why isn't he on a roster? He's not a good, consistant, can't miss kicker, and this team will lose games now because Hall is out. DEAR GOD!!! Hope i'm wrong!!!!

Re: Redskins sign Novak
Well correct me if I am wrong but this team isnt exactly lighting it up with Hall either...

Re: Redskins sign Novak
Given Hall's injury we had no choice, so under the circumstances I don't hate the move.
But I am concerned about a couple of things. #1 Novak's penchant for having kicks blocked. He was 8 for 10 last year with the Cards, his two misses were blocked. #2, his short kickoffs. Maybe we'll keep using Frost, but even he hasn't been that great. Say what you will about Hall, but he was consistently getting the kickoffs to the 5 which isn't too shabby. |

Re: Redskins sign Novak
I hope he ends up as the next Mosley but I dont think he has the leg for it. He'll be accurate but what happens when we needa a 55 yarder to wina game? Not an easy kick but I don't Novak has a chance in hell of making it. Not like there were many options though.

Re: Redskins sign Novak
Granted, but it's more likely than not he'll be suited up to take the kick, which is more than we can say for Hall. However, your point is exactly why I think Gibbs & Co. will (finally) address this position meaningfully in the off season.

Re: Redskins sign Novak
Hell we wouldn't have been able to count on Hall to hit 55 yarder.
At least Novak doesn't have the leg problems that Hall does, if he can be money from 45 on in that's all I'm asking. |

Re: Redskins sign Novak
Did he have block troubles in college? Maybe that's something that he'll work out of.
Kickoffs is a concern.
