Re: Madden 2007 cover athlete!
This is just a rumor. There was a thread over at ES about it too. Basically there has been some promotional advertisements for it with Portis on the cover, but also some with Steve Smith & others. They did the same thing last year with Tom Brady during the pre-order times, then officially announced it to be D. McNabb later. I'd be very surprised if CP is actually the cover.

Re: Madden 2007 cover athlete!
I thought they might go with Steve Smith, alexander, or palmer so I know I'm really suprised with the pick of Portis if it winds up being true, but it also makes a bit of sense because of how much the media was talking about him the last month and a half of the league because of his media day personas.

Re: Madden 2007 cover athlete!
I think they should go back to using Madden's fat head on the cover. Maybe kids will look at it and decide to play outside instead of sitting in front of the Playstation all day and turning in that lard-ass; then it will be easier for the rest of us to get the game when it first comes out!

Re: Madden 2007 cover athlete!
I honestly don't believe in the "Madden Curse". Everything that happened to these guys happen to other guys all of the time. Now IF they pick Clinton or whoever they pick end up getting injured in a freak Final Destination way then and only then will I believe in it. Marshall Faulk got hurt, he plays on astroturf and he's a running back it happens. Daunte had a bad season, I mean it's not like he had the All Madden team or something, plus he wasn't actually Joe Montana anyway. Vick, how many times did you think he would get hurt when he's taken down on his runs ? Ray Lewis, he was okay until the end of the season, he was gettin old too so he may twist an ankle or two ? Donovan, that was no curse, that team was doomed the second T.O. signed with them. That was no curse my friends, just bad management.
I don't care who is on the cover as long as it isn't a Cowboy, it would be hard to look at my game after that.

Re: Madden 2007 cover athlete!
i would hope that he actually isn't on the cover. Honestly, i don't ever want to see a redskin on the cover, just out of fear of the madden curse. Look what it did to mcnabb last year.

Re: Madden 2007 cover athlete!
what about jon jansen in 2004 or culpepper tanking and shredding his leg last year? Or C palmer, or D Brees? horrible injuries happen to great/elite players all the time
out of the 10-15 best QBs last year, 4 had terrible injuries... those are REALLY bad odds for anyone, not just the guy on the cover. |
