Long snapper news: The #Commanders are signing Tyler Ott to a three-year deal, per source. A reunion with new coordinator Larry Izzo, who coached him in Seattle.

Not necessarily, as Keim commented, they wanted Darnold first and he is far more similar to Maye. Mariota was who was available and had worked with Brian Johnson in Philly. Keim seems sure they have not made a decision and are going through the process which will involve pro days and private visits before coming to a conclusion

Safety Jeremy Chinn agreed to a one-year deal with the Commanders that has a max value of a little more than $5.1M, a source confirmed.

Only if he had position flex and comes from a military family.

I don't know, it seems like he might make for a good strong safety. Kam Curl's replacement this year?

Now he'll have the protection of big defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne keeping blockers off his frame while he runs down ball carriers.

Linebacker wasn't a top-three need on my board for the Commanders, but it was paramount they brought in someone who could handle openings at weak and strongside linebacker, and Luvu has the ability to play all three linebacker spots. Could we see the Commanders use him in ways similar to how Quinn used Micah Parsons in Dallas? His pass-rush traits say it's possible. And at just $12 million per year, he would be signed on a value contract if he produces similar pass-rush numbers in 2024. At that AAV, he's the seventh-highest-paid linebacker, which speaks to his ability and upside in Quinn's defense. -- Miller
Was Parsons ever used in the middle LB position? I don't see the Skins using Luvu as an edge rusher.

Good backup for a rookie
This one makes no sense to me unless they are trading Howell (who is better and cheaper). And I don't buy into the mentor reason (Why have a QB coach)???

If it anything less than a #3 then no. He is better than Mariota and certainly cheaper.
