Re: QB or BPA for our #1 Draft Pick - 2020
Smith also has a big time Egde rusher on the other side which he never had here

you have to take Chase Young, he's the most dominant player in this class.. I get there are bust every draft but u can't pass up his potential.

Agreed - someone would have to make us an RG3-level trade offer for me to consider passing on him and trading down.

Chase Young isn’t doing much vs Clemson except trying to rip Trevor Lawrence’s head off after someone else’s sack. With our crappy player development and coaching, you gotta wonder if our D needs are as bad as we think they are. I ping pong on this, but at the moment I like trading down and adding a second rounder at OL, DB or LB. We’re in rebuild, we need bodies.

Maybe Chase returns to OSU after the loss. Who knows?

Re: QB or BPA for our #1 Draft Pick - 2020
He had multiple pressures last night, it's not always about sacks. He allowed others to make plays as well. There is no way he passes up #2 money for what? A chance to get hurt next yr?

Re: QB or BPA for our #1 Draft Pick - 2020
I know it won't happen (probably any of it), but if the Lions win their early game, we could beat the Cowboys if the Giants win their game against the Eagles and still have the 2nd pick, right? I mean, IF the Giants win and we were able to beat the Cowboys to keep them out of the playoffs while KEEPING the 2nd pick, it would be a perfect day. Would Miami have to win too though?

I personally feel we need to trade down if we get the right deal. We can address a lot of needs if lets say Miami wanted to come up and get Tua.

We gotta focus on the bigger picture, take an L today and secure the #2 draft pick. At that point you either get the cream of the non-Joe Burrow crop, or you get to trade it for a bounty of picks to improve the team. Both of those are winning scenarios. 3-13 or 4-12, it doesn't matter to me. We had a terrible season, which will climax on Monday with major changes. We won't even care about the L to the Cowboys next week. Time to give the 4th stringers some PT Callahan. I'll be happy if we make it a competitive game but still take an L at the end. |

Rumor has it the defense will switch to 4-3 making some players expendable in addition to TW and Kerrigan. We can get some picks by trading these players.

We should have changed to a 4 - 3 years ago. I never though we had the proper players for a 3 - 4.

Re: QB or BPA for our #1 Draft Pick - 2020
This would seem to be the main/only chance of trading down given Miami's 3 1st rounders and that Tua is the only prospect work such a trade assuming he is fit and well... unless Cincinnati screws up the first pick.... that sort of haul would only be achieved if a franchise passer is available..... don't bet your house on a trade down

I can't understand how a d-line of Ioannidis, Payne, and Allen has been so ineffective against the run. Does Manusky ask them to eat up blockers so the linebackers can make plays like a true 3-4? Are the linebackers not good enough? I'm not smart enough to figure out why we've never been able to make it work but it's been a decade+ since we had a good defense. |
