There were two or three easy throws that he missed that you expect a pro QB to convert, and two or three balls that he forced into tight coverage instead of coming off his first read. That's about 12% of his day he'd like to have back, which is not insignificant. But I also feel that if the Redskins had come out more determined to light up the scoreboard than they were, Griffin's inaccuracies would have been a minor footnote and not the main story. The other 40 plays he looked like Robert Griffin.

I don't want to diminish how much him being off affects this team, because its clearly a lot. But Vick was off too last night and the Eagles came out attacking in a way that made that not matter.

How exactly was Vick off, anymore then he usually is?

Willie Parker says Redskins were about partying not football
By Dan Steinberg

“[In Washington] they weren’t about football; they were about partying and stuff like that. When you’ve got one person trying to come in and be straight about football, I mean, it’s never gonna work. You appreciate Pittsburgh a little bit more after going somewhere else and seeing what another team has to offer.”

There's too many stories describing our team thusly. Sure guys, you made it into the NFL, live it up. But don't you think you'd have more fun and build on your career if you didn't party for instance the night before a game?

He played a pretty good game if you ask me. He still has the arm, the quick release, and he can still run the ball. He was exhausted by halftime.

RGIII COULD have been rusty, but hell if completing 30 passes for over 300 yards and 2 TD's is rusty we have a LOT to look forward to.
Also need the run game to work a lot better.

Bring back the read option, plz. We hardly used it. Granted, we were playing with a huge deficit, but at least use it in the first half. Wasn't that our bread and butter last season?

I tried to call in depressed to work today. Supervisor didn't buy it. She had no sympathy.

I'm in San Diego, so I got to stay up to watch the Chargers lose a game that was even worse than the Skins. It was not a great day of football.

I think everyone already covered all the different reasons we lost (there were a lot!).

We just got served a big ole piece of humble pie. That can be a good thing. @GB is gonna be tough however. Gotta be up and to the bar at 10:00 a.m. Good thing its Tilted Kilt, makes the motivation pretty easy.

RGIII doesn't want the read option offense. He wants a conventional offense more like we saw last night. That was one of his grips with Shanahan last season.

Seriously? He beasted last season. Why would you want to change something that works? That's taking a hatchet to where you need a screwdriver.

Is it for safety purposes or does he want to be more of a pocket passer, only run when necessary type?

Do we know this or is what we saw last night more of them playing scared?

That's what I took away from it. He's tentative as hell, and so is the rest of the organization.

I figured we wouldn't run the RO much this season. Griffin is a good enough passer to not have to use it and also I'm sure they want to limit his runs

I think we're stepping into the assumption room just a bit.

Do we know this or are we inferring things from all the drama following his injury?

I mean, why would a competitor like him gimp himself? It doesn't ration out with what he know of him and his drive thus far.

I can understand him refusing the designed runs, of which there were very few towards then end of last season, but not the read option. I think he's still tentative (and why shouldn't he be?) and that is why there was no read option used last night. He has to trust himself for them to use it. I got the sense (and going strictly off my eye test here, because I can recall nothing that I've read, seen or heard that he "doesn't want the read option") that he didn't start to trust himself physically until towards the end of the game and after he had taken some hits and shook them off ... and I think it's going to take him some time before he has that confidence in his athleticism again.

I find all of it understandable.

Aye. This is the sense I got from him last night while watching the game. He is there physically but the mental rehab is going to take some more time. I think the fact that he took some pretty hard shots, protected himself and got back up went a ways towards that mental healing. I sensed a lot more confidence there towards the last ten minutes than he had all game long.

Robert's been quiet on Twitter since the morning of the game. No pimping shoes or gear, no excuses for the performance last night, nothing at all.

I see that as a good sign, m'self.

I think the humble pie (which I agree with many here we - and he -needed) woke him up to a lot of things. He's back in the lab. His competitive nature and his ego (which I have no problem with, it's what makes him a superstar) won't let him go out like that again.

We're going to be ok.

If you saw the post-game press conference, RG3 didn't make excuses. He said it's not rust, he just messed it up plain and simple and that that was atypical of him. Where a lot of guys could've said, "yeah I'm a little rusty" etc. He didn't, and in a roundabout kind of way, said don't look for those mistakes to happen again.

Dude takes responsibility for starting out sucking. I can dig accountability.
